Agreed, for the most part. The only advantage of recasting Delgado's Master, to me, would be to return him to that more intelligent kind of villainy, rather than the maniacal monster he became in later incarnations. Beevers' version seems to teeter on the edge between the two sometimes, but more often than not, tends towards the scenery-chewing of Ainley.
Watching more of the Pertwee era lately for the first time in years, I'm wishing for more of the "smart, calculating Master" and less of the "frothing at the mouth Master."
I could see pre-burnt Beevers being a little more charming and chessmastery, though - I think it's the survival madness that eats away at the Master's aristocratic façade. If Beevers played pre-crispy Master the way he reads the Delgado incarnation in audiobooks, I'd die of happiness.

I 100% think the pre-Terserus Beevers!Master would be calculating and posh; it's the agony he's going through that makes him so angsty. (That, and a personal headcanon I have, but I shan't mention that for now.)

I like it this way. With Jon Culshaw it doesn't feel as much like a recast. And wow... I was almost in tears hearin the trailer.
Getting Caroline 's daughter was a stroke of genius. I am very excited about this!

Are they referring to the threat for the second story? I thought it was confirmed that Liz was only in the first story and Benton in the second, so surely that must mean that the spoilered enemy is also in Primord? Might we be seeing a dastardly plan from Daisy's father which inadvertently reawakens the Primords... Or is that just too much to wish for?

Read the phrasing, it doesn't say Daisy worked with the spoilers; just that they're in the boxset.

The boxset for the Fifth set is up! www.bigfinish.com/img/release/dw3d05_slipcase_1417sq_cover_large.jpgIt's interesting. I think....I'd say there's perhaps too much going on, but at the same time it's understandable why there's so many elements on there. .....I think the problem is the Pertwee head. From the very start, I've been kinda against hiding Pertwee in shadow. I mean there's no sugar-coating that it isn't Pertwee, so embrace it, run with it! No need to pretend it isn't Pertwee, we all know it isn't. But now we kinda just.....have a floating head in the middle. I mean it's a step in the right direction, it just looks rather bizarre. The rest of it I do quite like though, and I think it'll work well with appropriate era logo as well.

Yeah, definitely feels overcrowded. Not a fan of the Pertwee head at all, even though I understand why they did that. I don't really like it.

Weirdest thing about the Pertwee head to me is that it's not in the exact centre of the cover.

I wonder if it's going to turn out that Culshaw also does a good Delgado, as far as the spoilery baddy of the second serial goes...

I wonder if the Primord picture is Ken Bentley in his red panda outfit?

Am I right in thinking the 'floating head' is lifted from the main titles of the Pertwee era of the show? EDIT : Forget it. Just answered my own question. 😊 m.youtube.com/watch?v=3Y3Muj3wn1o

... there goes the theme and the swirly graphics and Jon Pertwee's face receding away into the vortex, and we're off for another adventure with the Doctor, Jo and UNIT!

The cover is nice, maybe a bit crowded but it does what it's supposed to do. Great to see the Third Doctor on the cover and this time not in shadow. The cover conveys what it is, a Third Doctor story. Well done BF.

Don't like the cut n paste head of Jon Pertwee on the cover seem out of place, I'd gone for the pic of him posing from the other box sets that is set prominently in the middle.

It's him 'as seen on TV' though, just like when the titles rolled in the old days - and at least they are showing the great man's face this time, not just a silhouette!
