Just learned that Dave “Bookie” Bookman, an icon of Toronto-area radio, passed away early this morning, 9 days shy of his 59th birthday, following the brain aneurysm he had several weeks ago. It's weird how someone you've never even met, but who has been a voice in your life from your young teen years right up till now in my mid-30s, can affect you so much. I am crushed, and have been close to tears more than once today as I listened to the station and his colleagues and friends were either barely holding it in, or just outright breaking down on air

Hello again.
How are you all on the topic of spoilers. I am currently, as last year, trying to avoid Dr Who season 12 spoilers.
Digital Spy is usually very good at saying which of its stories have potential spoilers, so I saw the story Old monster to return for season 12 and thought okay I'm not reading that one.
I go on Radio Times website to check tonight's tv times and lo and behold same story same tagline with one important difference: they revealed the returning monster. Thanks RT, guess which website I'll now be avoiding!

What's made my day: The lovely support the Big Finish team has shown me over the last two months as a reviewer. I've never actually run my website like this, and to see it consistently being read, as well as every review being shared by at least three people involved, usually with very nice things to say about my writing, is terrific. What started as a business venture and an additional revenue stream has become something so much more special, to the point where I don't think about even trying to monetize my site as it means too much to me. What blows me away is the fact that Big Finish went out of their way to help me with website hosting issues by extending my time to listen and review some releases. They are a fantastic company and are human to the core. What's not made my day: Oral surgery recovery process making it, so I have only been able to leave my bed/couch once over the last five days, that time being to see John Wick Chapter 3 because I love that franchise. Suffice to say, I've caught up on a lot of what I've missed over the last couple of months due to being in two stage productions, one being Newsies the Musical as Joseph Pulitzer, one of the first roles I've actually felt like I wasn't done playing yet, and a melodramatic western romantic comedy mashup filled to the brim with puns. And while I planned all of this and it has gone off without a hitch, I'm desperately bored and can't wait for the chance to get back into the social realms of my life. What's made my recovery bearable: Post-show energy as well as just some great stuff I've been catching up on. The list below is probably only a fraction of what I'm up to date or close to now. - Bloodline/Big Finish in general
- Last Week Tonight with John Oliver
- Doom Patrol
- Resident Evil 2/Platnium hunting on previously completed PS4 games
- Youtube channels I follow
- The Forum

Participating in another clinical trial with the Australian Twin Registry, my 2nd for the year. We have been doing this for decades now, maybe 3 (?) I can't even remember how we got involved LOL! The pay is also a nice lil bonus too, paid in vouchers- I can get a weeks worth of grocery shopping for free

Happy to hear about your success with the reviewing, masterdoctor. That's fantastic. Sorry about your oral surgery, hope you recover quickly. I've used Big Finish listening as a way to pass the time after several surgeries and during a couple of illnesses. I think of it as a great excuse to do nothing except for listening to Big Finish.

Quite an experience let me tell you!

Yep! Actually Big Finish was perfect for my recovery after I got laser eye surgery. My eyes are (were) just the right kind of screwy so I couldn't do the fast-heal "lasik" type so I had to do the weekslong-healing "PRK" kind, during which I was told that I could not drive, should not look at computer or TV screens, and should not read. Audio was all I had!

I am however someone who listens/ watches things out of order due to poor discipline and without spoilers and wikis I would have been hopelessy lost in the past. So I am maybe the exact opposite of you.

Hello again.
I think, Tuigirl, my spoiler aversion was triggered by season 10 of Doctor Who. Knowing that **** ****'* ****** was appearing, that the *** ******** were coming back and the **** ****** was returning meant that there were no surprises. It spoilt my enjoyment of that season.
I guess I'm old fashioned I like to be surprised by my television. It is why I'm enjoying Years and Years, Russell T Davies latest series. I being swept up with all the events that happen in the story at the same time as the family.
This approach for me makes for an enjoyable viewing experience but others like to know what's coming. It is of course down to personal preference!

For readers/viewers, why on Earth would you rob yourself of the joy of seeing how a book/comic/movie/audio spools out? As the cliche goes, the point isn't the ending, it's the journey that matters. I just don't get it. I hate that spoiler culture has become ubiquitous.

We had a meet-and-greet today at work among our tutors and staff, swapping ideas and information over lunch. It's a bizarre feeling, being a guest rather than one of the workers, I'm still not entirely used to it. Neither was I particularly prepared for a room full of people to applaud me. Some I knew, some strangers, but all just as free with their congratulations. I'm... indescribably chuffed, you've no idea.

However, let me explain my reasoning from the spoilerific point of view- things that I enjoy, I watch/ listen/ read at least more than once or twice. When I know what is coming, I can concentrate more on what is going on and I relish in the anticipation of the reveals.
I never felt myself being robbed or missing out or similar so far.
One of my greatest examples- I had been spoilered for the Sixth Sense back in the day and knew exactly what was coming when I went to see the movie. Of course I did not spoil the others in my group, but I really enjoyed the movie non-the-less and really appreciated how clever it was done so the ending stayed a surprise.
One thing I agree with you 100%- it is the journey that counts. However, the way I am taking is a bit different from the way you take and enjoy- but does it matter in the end if we can both enjoy the same thing, just taking different detours while doing it?
I am also not going around spoiling things for everybody- I ask what each person prefers. I am aware that we are all a bit different.

So I used to collect Randy Bowen Designs statues of Marvel Comics characters. The hobby got to be pretty pricey and I had to quit cold turkey. I've looked at some of the ones I missed over the years. The Hulk Mr. Fixit statue very often goes for $750.00 to $1,000.00, so imagine my surprise when I check in on ebay today and it is up for $350.00. Purchased! Come to me my Hulk.

Countdown to Friday where I'm off to Moorfields to have my stitches removed from my eye after my second cornea replacement. That bits worse than the whole operation thing. So Friday will be a good day but will probably make me very grumpy..

I am pretty much the same. I only have 1 rule. That I, myself, am in control of whether or not I want to see/read a spoiler. Then I have no one to blame but myself which I haven't yet.

Walking through town today and despairing and being scared and apprehensive at the same time- on every lamppost there is an election poster for the right-wing parties throwing slogans about that would not be out of place in 1933. Even using the same lettering.
On the plus side, and this gives me hope- each and every one of these election posters is defaced by my kind of rude graffiti telling the Nazis what they can do with themselves. Central town looks better already.

Hello again.
It must be awful Tuigirl that these idiots are currently so emboldened. I'm glad people have responded to their posters. Someone spraypainted a swastika on the pavement down our road. It's not good.
Take care, let's hope not too many far right polticians get elected to the European Parliament.

It's not good. Take care, let's hope not too many far right polticians get elected to the European Parliament. I am certainly not voting for them.
However, the big parties do not really make it easy for the general population to root for them (corrupt, bumbling fools as far as the eye can see).
Elections now quite scare me, to be honest. Only 10 years back I would never have in my wildest dreams imagined that I would see the central town here plastered full of hard-core right-wing slogans in old German lettering. Now it is everywhere.
One shudders.
