I held out hope that the man I once loved, God knows why, could find it in his heart and soul to do the right thing by his children, but it is not to be. Although our personal circumstances are obviously different in some respects they are very similar. Like you, I have held onto hope that my ex wife would make the effort to acknowledge our daughter's existence beyond the obligatory £20 in a birthday and christmas card and a standard "hope you are well" message that wouldn't be out of place in a card to a passing acquaintance or elderly relative you see once in a blue moon. I've been hoping for five years now. This year was my daughter's 18th. In a significant year and despite the disappointments of previous years I still held onto the hope that her mum would do something..anything..beyond the usual. She did.....with nothing more than a card from an online store. No present, no impersonal message. So I will say to you what I said to myself : If your ex cannot make the effort with their own children, if they cannot see past their own selfishness and stubborn pride then to hell with them. They are not worth a single moment of your thoughts. Yes, it hurts to see the look in your child's eyes..when you know that they know. But contrary to popular opinion the unconditional love of just one parent can be enough. I'm sure you know that. While our ex's will have to live with the consequences of their choices in the years to come you and I are privileged enough to be taken along for the ride as our kids race towards adulthood. We'll be the ones who will witness their futures. And personally I cannot think of anywhere else I'd rather be. Oh, and for what it is worth? Harper is incredibly lucky to have you as her mum. But I suspect she already knows that. 😊 Thank you so very much for this beautiful post. It touched a nerve and means a lot to read. Your daughter is blessed to have you.

Has this pic been seen before? Looks good.

Has this pic been seen before? Looks good. Sounds new to me. Can't find it online anywhere. Given the magazine only came out today though (as I understand it), I reckon there'll be a Big Finish announcement today too

Sounds pretty good, especially if they're finally using stock images of Pertwee at last If there's one thing that's slightly disappointing it's that we've already got the Daleks back again. I'd have rathered some more new monsters. Ever since Volume 3 they've seen a bit too keen to bring back old monsters in this range. We've only had one original creation in the last three years...

Oh yes! Thank you aussiedoctorwhofan that sounds totally brilliant. A Dalek story and a Three/Jo/Churchill 'historical' - which is maybe also a Dalek story, who knows? Can't wait.
I do know what Whovitt means about the old monsters but it is Nick Briggs directing this range (and I love what he's done with it), so let's have a Dalek story from time to time. (For full 70s authenticity we do need a bit on the interview tracks of Tim Treloar in character (as Jon) complaining about how he doesn't like working with 'the pepperpots' )

Oh look at those names and it gets even better - Terry Molloy too. Jonathan Barnes, Guy Adams - should be an outstanding set. They're certainly pushing the boat out for this one.

First snow outside! People of my workplace joined up for some break-time fun and we build a snowman on the car park. Because, "There's no point in being grown up if you can't be childish sometimes." I know, in 4 weeks time everybody will be swearing and complaining about the snow, but there is just this rush of adrenaline about the first snow and this leftover spark from childhood.

If I can take one small scrap of comfort from yesterday's results, it's the news that the former MP, reality TV star, Brexit Party candidate and extreme anti LGBTQ campaigner Anne Widdecombe was beaten into third place in the constituency she was standing in...by a gay man who supports remaining in the EU.
Karma really is a good judge of character.

There’s a horror movie called Alien? That’s really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you.

The weather here in WA has been diabolical this week: haven’t had a day under 35 degrees since last weekend and this weekend looks to continue the trend. It also seems to be our turn for bushfires now that the rest of the country has been burning for a month. Our PM was on the telly the other day spouting the old “We only produce 1.3% of global emissions” rubbish. He didn’t mention (and I’m tired of pointing it out to people) that we are also only 0.3% of the global population so we should be working harder to lower our footprint.
In other news my school has been a bit frantic this week: because of the heat we had a directive to discontinue outdoor activities for safety reasons. Couple that with it being a week before the end of the school year, Friday the 13th and a full moon, our kids have been a little bit more “exuberant” than usual.

Everytime i try to relisten to episode 4 of Nightmare Country I'm distracted or needed for some chore, think I'll go listen to it in the car & go for a drive.

Seeing lots of Labour 'Moderates' suddenly deciding it's time to speak out against the hard left leadership and telling the rest of us that this is why it cost the party the election. So brave and principled of them to take a moral stance.

Oh for heaven's sake JHD give it a rest. 45% of the voting population can't all be vile / stupid / duped, did that ever occur to you? And please stop collectively trashing a whole group of people, it's just not right.
Re. the Brigadier's post - I'd forgotten she was standing anywhere this time until I saw the Plymouth seat declaration! Goodbye! But Karma hasn't got the faintest idea what's it's doing - some really decent Labour MPs lost their seats in the pro-Brexit, anti-Corbyn wave. Even though they were firmly pro-Brexit deal and anti-Corbynism. While others (not all Labour...) who I'd love to have seen evicted retained their vast majorities and always will.
Sadly, elections are usually a steamroller, not a pair of tweezers.

Hear Hear. I remember applauding Dennis Skinner as key speaker at the Durham Miners Gala about 14 years ago, and 2017 was the first time I ever voted Conservative, so go figure. I have voted Lib Dem more times than Labour or Tory and have never been loyal to any party. People vote for what is best, and like myself in 2015, where I voted for Ed Miliband not necessarily for a Labour government, but for a stronger opposition and tactically to maintain the balance of power. I see a lot of hate from the far left mob (socialist worker, momentum and antifa) that was nowhere near aligned to the leadership of the opposition in past (Kinnock denounced the Militant brigade in the 80's). I don't see hate from the Tory voters, more a sense of alarm. Johnson refused to deal with Farage and the Brexit party remember, whilst even Farage conceded that UKIP was infiltrated by cranks and racists, hence his own departure. I anticipate that any bad apples in the Conservative barrel will be dealt with and lets remember that they are a minority waiting to be caught out, where they may exist.
