I also liked Heart of Rage and the Garro Audios which were done by Big Finish for Black Library. But as previously said, you would need a bit of background to follow and appreciate all the things that get thrown at you.

I just took the plunge and bought the Warhammer Gotrek audio drama series featuring Brian Blessed. It got really great reviews and I saw it is cheapest on iTunes and costs as much as a Big Finish boxset download. I am surprised that it is one third cheaper on Amazon and iTunes than it is directly from Black Library, but there you go. I think you can not really go wrong with this and I needed some listening material for my train journeys home for Christmas and back in the coming weeks.
I will let you know what I think and if I can recommend it to you all.

I can recommend the Gotrek audio. In effect, if you’re not “up” on the Age Of Sigmar aeries you’re as alien to it as Gotrek is. All you need to know is explained with the audio.

Tate as Greyfax is out in February. Will this be available on download? Black Library has a rule of “everything, in every format, eventually” and has always had downloads for audios, so I assume so. ETA: release date is 23rd of February, BL very very rarely misses a release date (only one Ican think Of was The Anarach, which slipped back a week).

You can buy it directly from there, but iTunes and audible will have them a few days later, too (and for some reason, iTunes is often cheaper for Black Library releases.

I was a bit miffed about that because I REALLY was looking forward to the Anarch and the resolution of the cliffhanger. But I know that Dan Abnett has been battling with health problems for a while now, so I am happy that we get books from him at all.
I do LOVE Dan Abnetts 40k work, and the Gaunts Ghosts are amazing. They have such life-like believeable characters and great character arcs and not just bolter porn.

Not to mention the most vile, utterly irredeemably evil character in Warhammer..... Lijah Fething Cjuu.

Not to mention the most vile, utterly irredeemably evil character in Warhammer..... Lijah Fething Cjuu. Well, that is debateable in a universe that has Dark Eldar, Kharn and Abbaddon. But non-the-less, the characters created by Abnett are great, certainly more interesting and engaging than plain boring old vanilla.

IMO all those are victims, often of their own hybris, or whatever Failbaddon’s problem is, but Lijah Cuu was a rapist and a murderer BEFORE Chaos came along to mess up his day. Any mortal man scary enough to frighten Larkin has to a right piece of work.

Captain Meryn may not have started out as murderer or rapist, but the arrogant cold-blooded feth is giving Cuu a run for his money as my most detested character in the series, sure as sure (poor Ezrah ). I have a feeling he's going to meet his reckoning at the business end of a lasgun in 'The Anarch.'... Huge fan of The Gaunts Ghosts series, and eagerly awaiting my copy of The Anarch to arrive. Having already read some spoilers for the book, I think we are in for a treat, though with the caveat that Abnett dosen't shirk from killing off yet more fan favourites...

Now you made me anticipate this even more. But I try to avoid spoilers...

You know who I think is going to die a massive, unlikable douche? Gregor Eisenhorn.

You know who I think is going to die a massive, unlikable douche? Gregor Eisenhorn. Yeah, he already is. I always prefered Ravenor. This reminds me a) I still have to paint the Eisenhorn miniature in my Inquisition collection (together with Greyfax) and b) finally work on my book backlog and read "The Magos" which has been sitting on my Kindle for ages now....

At $50au for the download, I’ve been forced to wait for payday on this one. Yeah, the download price is crazy. Luckily, I found the CDs on Amazon for just 25 Euroes (that is 10 Euroes cheaper than the download!). It really pays to look and shop around... and I bet of you wait a couple of months, the download will be much cheaper on iTunes.
