Yep!Can only agree with everyone else,Sparkling dialogue, which made me laugh out loud from start to finish Strax's cockney accent had me in stitches, absolutely hysterical!A more than adequate debut, but of course not really a debut for those of us that bought "The Eighth of March" One question Why is it called Heritage?? I am sure all will be revealed in the fullness of time. Was there a hint given right at the end of the 3rd story?I am not sure!!!!!More than happy with this 1st set, look forward to the next one.

In the midst of the interviews right now. It was a fun set, though it is disappointing to only have 3 stories in the sets. [Doing a quick look it appears that The Lives of Captain Jack and the 10th Doctor Adventure also have only 3 stories in their sets, but most other series have 4.]
I do wonder what Madame Vastra was planning on doing with the Bloomsbury Bunch. They ending up escaping to somewhere else, but left behind a lot of stuff which they presumably will transfer to their new HQ. It didn't sound like the Paternoster Gang were planning on taking their stuff or waiting for them to reappear. I guess we may find out more when the Bunch reappear.
Strax had loads of great lines throughout the stories. And Stonn's dialogue needling Strax before we knew he was Sontaran is a lot more humorous on a second listen, which we get to hear during the interviews.
Looking forward to hearing more later this year.

Am interested to read posts in this thread as they are a Bunch of Characters i just did not enjoy on the TV show and i didnt really want an alternative detective team in Victorian London,I may actually have warmed to them if they had been placed in a different time period Georgian ,Elizabethan ,Tudor but i am not enthused yet.Its a bit like Torchwood at moment still no enthusiasm generated.

From what I gathered about Torchwood (I still only have listened to the comedy releases and still have not seen the TV show because there seems to be a concensus it puts the capital "B" back into "Bleak"; something I cannot deal with right now), this would be much more lighthearted. They were three quite fun little stories. Nothing groundbreaking, but enjoyable. I think maybe they try to establish it as a replacement range for Jago and Litefoot.... but they still have their futuristic gadgets like they had in the TV series.

As much as I enjoyed the first Paternoster Gang boxset, it does make me wonder why the Doctor would ever bother visiting the Victorian era again. Now that we have Jago and Litefoot, the beginnings of Torchwood and now the Paternoster Gang to defend against all alien threats.

Don’t get me wrong, I still enjoy the adventures. It was just an amusing thought on my part.

Well, it is a very interesting and iconic setting, maybe the reason why it is also popular in other franchises. Plus it basically sparked the idea of Steampunk.
As long as they can make interesting stories out of it, why not?
Another possibility would be to travel to other countries in the same time period- it was not only London in existence back in the day. But that, of course, would require a bit more research.

As long as they can make interesting stories out of it, why not? Yeah, that's pretty much how it should be. I thought the first Paternoster Gang set was very enjoyable so roll on October for the second one.

... but will never surpass J&L I doubt very little will surpass that great range. Jago & Litefoot was the best - and most consistent - Doctor Who spin-off range the BF have ever done.

I relistened to this set yesterday as a “binge” and found them even more enjoyable on a second listen.
I don’t know if it will happen within the Heritage run of stories, but I really hope the Gang encounters Missy.

I listened to the first story today as part of "Operation Backlog Catchup" and I enjoyed it well enough. Glad that all 3 leads are good on audio. It's not always the case but they do well here. We obviously know all about Mr Starkey's skill with voice work but Neve and Catrin were great too. I knew the series would be comic, given the characters, with an adventure twist but I was quite happy to hear some fourth wall breaking gags too. Strax waking up in haste from being knocked out and shouting "RUTANS PERVERTING THE COURSE OF SONTARAN HISTORY" and the villain threatening to send the gang to "live forever in electric dreams" were the highlights for me there. I also loved Strax unionising the workers at the coalface. That was a wonderful, surreal scene. Overall, a good fun listen. Will be finishing the set this week!

I’m really playing catch up and you are exactly correct about the first episode.
