He's due to show up for a 2019 convention in Los Angeles with "Colin Baker, Pearl Mackie, [...] Frazer Hines, Richard Franklin, Katy Manning, Nicola Bryant and many, many more", which sounds like enormous fun, so he's certainly still out and about. That would be Gallifrey One in February 2019. He was certainly there along w Carole Ann Ford (my profile pic was taken there).

I like the Early Adventures and, for me at least, they remind me of the BBC Television Soundtracks of the missing episodes that I listened to in the early 2000s. I do wonder if the decision to go from 4 releases to 2 per year is casting restrictions or a lack of sales. I think it is more to do with a combination of these rather than one specific problem. Whilst I have purchased the odd one or two, they are not the first choice for me if I'm honest. Although I've not listened to the latest Hartnell run (of which I have heard good things), I have found some of these rather pedestrian and with limited replay value.
As has already been suggested, I would prefer a 'recast' of the 1st and 2nd Doctors (either Hines or Purves playing the role or someone else a la Trelor with Pertwee). That way it would allow for these eras to be developed in different ways and/or with new characters/angles.
