With this and Doom Coalition 3 there seems to be a pattern emerging of the 3rd set of the 8th Doctor series being amazing and reinvigorating my love for them. Looking forward to The Time War 3...

Done Deeptime Frontier and Companion PieceFrontier gives the Ravenous some more to work with as an ongoing threat. As for Companion Piece, well it was brilliant. {Spoiler} Dorney was clearly having a ball with this script. The cameo scene was brilliant alone, plus the glorious one liners (of course the penguin counts!) and the companions working perfectly together was lovely. Bliss not knowing the Doctor yet was a curious choice, I wonder if the timeline alteration revealed here will have any implications for the actual Time War sets.
Also the ‘ghost of Lucie Miller’-too soon 😭
So is Katarina properly alive again, and River now has a TARDIS I guess? {Spoiler} I think it was mentioned that the casket simply kept Katarina slightly alive or something and when she connected to the telepathic circuits it woke her mind up temporarily.
Or maybe we’ll find that in the Early Adventures release, The Doctor and Steven will wonder who the curly haired woman who dropped off the now seemingly alive Katarina was.
I do wonder if Legacy Of Time will connect to this for The Nine and River.

Just finished The Odds Against. It’s a great finale, bringing events seeded throughout the set to a head and setting up more for the fourth set. The Ravenous are much better overall, compared to what we’d got in the first two sets. I loved the interaction between The Nine & The Eleven, their conversation bonkers and their dialogue sparky.
One thing I wasn’t too keen on is the use of Liv. Pretty much all she does in this story is throw quips and rather harsh ones at that. Liv is a cynical character, but not a mean one. The Doctor pulls her up on it briefly, but she still continues throughout and doesn’t seem to do much else.
Overall, a great set. I think the best so far. Companion Piece really elevated it, but the first and last instalments really sell the Ravenous better than before.

I adore Liv, she's probably my favourite 8th Doctor companion, and I adore snarkyness in my characters because it's always fun! But it was getting incredibly obnoxious with Liv. I mean....it's not surprising, I get that she hates the Eleven and I don't blame her at all. But there came a point where it was just irritating and wasn't helping the story at all. As you say, she's always been cynical and doesn't care about the feelings of villains like The Eleven or The Master, it just seemed a lot in this story. Honestly, considering you could argue Helen would have more reasons to despise him, it just seems odd that Helen is relatively calm and treats him the same as ever, whilst Liv is turning up the dial.

Finished up the set L.E.G.E.N.D. was an odd little sidestep, similar to the one-offs back in Ravenous 1 in that it was entertaining enough for a hour but didn’t really leave much of an impression. The Odds Against{Spoiler} I think this is one of the few times I actually figured out a twist ahead of its reveal. Not by much, but enough to feel smug about it when the Nine took off the mask. The interactions between him and the Eleven was suitably bizarre.
Outside of the twists there wasn’t a great deal to this story, though it is a nice bit of meta who the Nine essentially lured the Doctor with a template of a Doctor Who story. As for Ravenous 4, lots of possibilities.

Great post. I understand her hate for The Eleven, there’s some great drama in that, but just making snarky comments isn’t the way to do that and it ends up being irritating, as you say. You’re right, Helen would have more reasons to make the comments. Except she doesn’t. That’s another story element that was really thrown away in Ravenous 1 (following Doom Coalition 4) and not explored to its full potential. It’s odd that the pair don’t really interact with The Eleven properly. It’s a bit like how Yaz & Graham had only one conversation in the last series!

3.1 Deeptime Frontier
Horror story / ghost story / base-under siege and a very good one too - one of those BFs that pays dividends for late-night listening; if I had two hearts they'd both have been pumping pretty fast at times! Much more pace and action than 'Seizure', but that was a 'haunted house' and this is a 'zombie' movie, evil 'clown zombies' too (I'm not really sure about the 'clown' analogy but I liked the Doctor's line he hadn't had good experiences with circuses.) Agree with tuigirl - Liv gets the best line but then Liv often does, great lines are part of her character!
Moral Message: Don't frack the Vortex, you don't know what'll bubble out!

I agree with those that say this is the best Ravenous set so far. It was great! I'm in the minority, being one of the folks that didn't love Ravenous 2. I don't like the Krampus story AT ALL, and was going into this set with a little hesitation. I shouldn't have worried. It was great!!
I loved Deeptime Frontier. It seemed like the real introduction to The Ravenous. The pacing was terrific and I loved meeting a Timelord from the Doctor's past that (so far) hasn't gone megalomaniacle.
What can I say about Companion Piece that hasn't already been said. It was a real treat. I didn't realize how much I missed the old Charley.
I thought L.E.G.E.N.D. was excellent. I couldn't help but think about the Christmas stories in the last set, how both sets had stories that explored human myths and legends. For me, this was a much better and more satisfying story than the last set. No magic man to come and wish everything better.
The Odds Against was a great closer. The Nine could give The Master a run for his money when it comes to disguises. And it leaves us waiting for the next step with some good anticipation.
Well done everyone. My love of Eighth Doctor stories has returned!!!

So I just finished it!!!
Well, this was awesome. I am not sure if it is better than Ravenous 2, but it is certainly on the same level. After the Ravenous were a bit of a let-down at the end of the second boxset, they finally are redeemed here and get added a mysterious backstory and tons of creepyness. The Eleven is also shaping up as a great villain, and he really owns it this time. And oh my god, I really love Liv. She is raising the sarcasm and cynisism to a whole new level. I think her and I would get on like a house on fire. I also find her reactions to the Eleven and all the snarking very believable in the situation, and I guess that I am in a minority here when I say I did not think it was over the top. I certainly will be VERY sad when it is time to say goodbye to her (as Mr. Dorney keeps teasing), but I hope she gets to go out with a BANG and suitably BADA$$.
My favorite episode certainly is Companion Piece, and the set is worth it for that alone. Reading the summary of this episode might make you wonder how this could even work. But it is simply glorious, with so many added treats for long term fans of the franchise. The Doctor's companions make a great team and you do not really need the Doctor in this at all.
I am really looking forward to the next installment of this series, it will be glorious to see the Master going on head to head with the Eleven. I REALLY hope the Master gets to torture him for a bit. You know, just a little. I think I am with Liv that I would enjoy that. Bring it on!

Listened to the Extras. Really enjoyed that. It was great having them all together at their Christmas lunch (all having had too much for their highly alcoholic dessert), felt like a family. Somehow the good vibes were infectious, at least for me.
I am especially amazed about McGann. Listening to these extras, I find it a bit hard to believe that this is the same guy who did the audio commentary on the TV Movie DVD and some of the interviews for the 8th Doctor adventures. Here he is having an absolute blast and giggling along- okay, maybe he was just a bit tipsy, but he is really letting his hair down in this one. Plus, he really got into his role- I remember the DVD commentary where both Nick and Sylvester audibly roll their eyes several times because Paul has not a single clue about basically anything. Really hope I will meet him at a convention one day.

This was fantastic a four hour entertaining spectacle from start to finish, tense, dramatic, engaging, brilliantly acted, superbly written by Fitton & Dorney.
Deserves nothing less than 5/5.

What a brilliant set in a year for brilliant sets, and it's still only April! So far in 2019 I've been extra-wowed by the 4DAs, the Fourth's Comic Strip stories, Missy the magnificent and now this 'Ravenous 3', best of the Ravenous sets so far because every episode is first-class and they all flow together to make one gripping adventure from Matt Fitton and John Dorney, with more to come. I did manage to ration myself to one episode per evening as intended, but it was a challenge! The Ravenous finally appeared properly threatening in this set imo and giving the Doctor an enemy he finds personally scary is a great idea. I liked the three space-future episodes balanced by a very fantastical 'historical', all great but for me the winner was 'Companion Piece', a terrific 'prison break' story with drama and humour and endless treats for classic-era fans. All the Companions were perfectly written and played and fitted their places in the plot so precisely; forget 'Ocean's Eleven', here's 'River's Five' (plus reserves!) (And I loved the affectionate parody of our collecting and ordering of the collection - The Nine having to keep moving Charley between corridors Eight and Six was one delight among many. ) Liv was sarcastic enough with the Eleven to turn a lemon sour-er, and I loved it, and whichever genius had the idea of letting Mark Bonnar and John Heffernan argue amongst 'himself' in 20 voices, thank you! Twenty outstanding performances in two, I just wish we had the scripts for these sets so we could see them all laid out voice by voice on the page.
Another outstanding set in this special year, can they top it in Vol 4? Looking forward to finding out!

Is it arguing against 'himself' or 'himselves'? Obviously, personal pronouns are now very difficult to manage with Time Lords, especially since gender swapping was introduced, but the 'Collective's' situation is even more confusing (I believe we call the overall entity of the Nine/the Eleven/etc. the Collective, don't we?). Heck, what if the Eleven were to meet the Twelve, for example? We'd have 23 of them arguing with him/herself and/or him/herselves! (Anyone else getting a headache...?)

"And we are all together - boo-boo-be-doo!!"
