So as many of you may or may not know I read a lot, usually having one Who book and one non Who book started at one time and earlier this year I got quite a few first installments of series which I all intend to at least read/continue reading and I want to see the communities opinions on to start after I finish Oathbringer and preferably a reason why.
Moving Pictures by Terry Pratchett Storm Front by Jim Butcher Mistborn the Final Empire by: Brandon Sanderson Wizard’s First Rule by Terry Goodkind Gardens of the Moon by Steve Erickson

There’s a horror movie called Alien? That’s really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you.

Despite it not being a first volume, I would recommend the Pratchett as it is a standalone novel in the series and is really funny, especially if you have a fondness for films.
Jim Butcher is a bit marmite for me, while Goodkind and Sanderson have never done anything for me (YMMV, obvs, but I prefer Sanderson for his vision and his worldbuilding but his prose is a bit leaden while Goodkind is just a libertarian Robert Jordan wannabe with all the joy I get out of epic fantasy sucked out of it). Steve Erickson I haven't read but I've heard some great things about him.

I agree I'd go for Moving Pictures first out of that list
