So audity made mention of potentially doing an awards type audience poll thing for the Big Finish releases of 2018, and as nothing came of that after a couple of days I had an idea of how we could at least determine the top 10 best releases of the year. The plan is to create a poll, month by month everyone being able to pick 3 releases from each month and after January 2019 I will compile a thread with the top 20 releases of the year with whichever has the most votes. As always, discussion of releases is encouraged.
NOTE: November and December Polls will not go up until those months are over, Box Sets are counted as one release, The First Doctor Adventures Volume 1 is included here due to its initially planned release being 2018, but pushed forward to Christmas 2017.
EDIT: Due to davygallagher's suggestion I am including the few exceptions of stories released individually on download as well as on CD in a box set as their own release as there is no obligation to buy all parts of those releases, IE The Fourth Doctor Adventures so you will have to revote

River 3 the best Rive Box so far
Great White Hurricane from 1DA Vol 1 is a Great story
Kingdom of lies has the perfect casting to evoke that 90s melodrama mini-series vibe it going for

Should the 4DAs count as a boxset like the others as -even though that option is available - the standalones are released concurrently as they have been in previous years? Not the same at all as other BF boxsets where you buy all or nothing. The 10DAs are the only other exception I think.
I ask because I would not pick that 4DA box but would pick The Crowmarsh Experiment.

I went with the Box Set only because I hadn't realized that the stories were also released individually, I'll see if I can fix that.

I went with the Box Set only because I hadn't realized that the stories were also released individually, I'll see if I can fix that. Alright I think that's fixed everything. Thanks very much 1.Kingdom Of Lies. I said at the time "The tone was very evocative of the first few farcical episodes of The Holy Terror - which is as high as praise gets. It never reaches the heights that story does but it's really fun without ever being just a runaround (that overused term "romp") and it's something akin to a Davison take on The Romans in the almost Carry On shenanigans. From Nyssa The Destroyer to the old Duke just wanting to go to the bookies to the Princess who couldn't hide for 10 mins when she's faking her own death I thought it was just bags of fun." 2. The Crowmarsh Experiment. To again use my words from the time of release: "I'm a sucker for "this is reality, what you've been living was the dream" stories be they in Who, Marvel or David Lynch movies. This was a superlative example where Lou was given so much in the way of wonderful material. I thought Tom did a nice take on Doctor Stewart. Anyone who has followed Tom's career in the UK must surely, as I did, think of his role in Medics. I'm almost sad I got this as part of the boxset as on it's own, completely standalone, it would I think, be reaching more people as the insta-classic. Instead some of us hear it on release in the box and some as a standalone so the discussion will not be as immediate. I really loved that the sci-fi trapping was such a tiny part of the story. We didn't need too much exposition just the story to unfold. Very economical. This would have been trickier in the 2 hour format of the MR. " 3. Blake's 7 - The Way Ahead. In it's own way, as much a tribute to B7 as Light At The End was to Who. Gareth's death (and retrospectively Jacquelines) give this a very poignant feel. Gareth had already died of course and it's testament to Project Aquitar that it feels like he's there in spirit. It's got some lovely early Avon, quite distinctive from his later role. Travis surprises with some of his actions here too. Dissent is a more simple story but it's got a lot of great action for the crew. Pacey was great. I loved the set incorporating little bits from Paul's wonderful Lucifer series - meaning it celebrated the WHOLE 40 years, not just the TV series. I'd love to have included the 1DA but sadly the chance to create a whole new incarnation of The Master and then just making him the same polite yet deadly character we've seen so many times seemed dull to me and soured me on that first story despite LOVING The Great White Hurricane.

The Diary of River Song 3 was the best for that month, I think. The Sons of Kaldor and The First Doctor Adventures Are second and third, respectively.

I also agree that River was the best of these, although I still like the second River box set best...

I love all the River sets not a bad set among them and the First Doctor adventures was a surprise hit for me but can happily go on the journeys with this alternative crew ,

'Kingdom of Lies' was so much fun and one I can listen to any number of times just for the 'quote-spotting'! And the TARDIS crew excelled, especially imo 'Nyssa The Destroyer'
'The Crowmarsh Experiment' was for me one of the best 4DAs ever, up there with 'Wrath of the Iceni' and 'Return of the Rocket Men'.
'The First Doctor Adventures' was a departure I wasn't sure about in advance - but it worked so well. Many more, please.

The outstanding Boxset in this month was without doubt "The Diary of River song series 3" (Not that the others were bad)
