I think we now have some indication of where Chris stands on BF. I don't think it gives us any indication really. He seems very nice, but there isn't any sort of acknowledgment of BF as a whole, just a congratulations to one writer who wrote to him. Still extremely kind of him, but from that note I wouldn't even guess he knew Big Finish existed. That particular rumor has me feeling split. On the one hand, Silver Turk is my favourite Cyberman story and it has some wonderful aesthetics that would be brilliant to see on screen, but on the other, I'm not big on the idea of the TV series remaking BF stories or contracting something as major as Mary being a companion. Although this is a universe where Kingmaker, Shakespeare Code, Empire of Glass, and that DWM comic all coexist...

But from that note, I got some "writer talking to a kid" vibes rather than an actual "hey that's awesome" kind of thing, but that might just be me.

That's how I read it too...before I noticed the name and text, just the pic that's honestly what I thought it was. Sorry to Nucleus but I, like Nightwing, don't see it showing anything about Chibnall's feelings on BF in the slightest but it does show him to be a good guy which is more important than whether he knows his C'rizz from his Counter Measures.

I hope we get a new "What happened to Atlantis?" story - not had one of those for ages! Used to get them all the time in the first few decades.

Apparently they had a new one planned for every Doctor but they all sank without trace...

I mean, he won't be. So I hope that's not true.

We discussed this on the S12 thread. This sounds too much akin to the sea plastic story the Mirror already reported to not smell of a prank.
With due respect to sega, not sure this warrants a thread unto itself.

Hold on a sec. Unless BF gave permission, how is the plot of Doctor dealing with Cybermen alongside Mary Shelly inspiring Frankenstein not copyright infringement territory?
It's not my area of law, but still... you generally can't just redo someone else's plot, ie, the LOTR movie studio had to give rights. They couldn't just say "yeah, so we're doing this three-part epic fantasy where something called a hobbit finds a ring, stuff happens, and then they have to take it to a mountain of fire in the middle of enemy territory to save the world, with the help of a wizard and supporting characters".

Yeah, you can. You can't copyright ideas. The Beeb own the Doctor, they control the Cybermen, they can use Mary Shelley. Marc Platt would have to demonstrate some specific plagiarism, assuming of course that this story is even true and that he's not involved already. On the other hand, Chibnail has a history of magically thinking something up of his own accord which turns out already to exist even to the point of casting a fairly-similar looking actress, so who knows?

It’s likely not because the BBC own the intellectual property and Big Finish only licenses it from them.

Because you can't copyright ideas. If you could the first person to do Sherlock Holmes vs Dracula would have been a multi-millionaire.
And it's not even a particularly unique idea. Mary Shelly falls squarely in the Celeb Historicals arena and bringing the Cybermen into it is the logical (sorry) next step.

We can either edit the thread title to indicate possible series 12 spoilers or join this thread with the main series 12 spoilerific discussion thread.

With No Panel Presence at Comic-con for the show, BF's YouTube Takeover might produce even more interesting reaction than I thought it would.

You know, you'd think all these tabloid 'sources' would offer something a little more... indicative? At least way back when, they had the decency to at least throw out Ben Kingsley to give their non-story something.

When the source is the only rag that's even lower than The Sun, why bother?
