While I am thrilled that we are getting three new boxsets over the next three years, there is a part of me that is a little bit disappointed..that we are only getting three new boxsets over the next three years. I wanted more! (god..even typing that makes me sound petulant..*stamps foot, scowls furiously, goes very red in the face*😉).
I suspect the trouble is that I was rather spoiled by the possibilities offered up by "Too Many Targets". We now have a John Steed, a David Keel, a Kathy Gale, an Emma Peel and a Tara King (we even have a *SPOILER!* and a *SPOILER!*😊). I just wish we could have had a bigger playground for them to all play in. There are for example countless novels out there ripe for adaptation, I think there was a radio show and a stage play at some point..and dare I say it? Wouldn't it have been something if StudioCanal had give their blessings to brand new Avengers stories being told?
I know, I know. It is what it is and I should be grateful that we are at least getting three brand spanking new boxsets. I am. But I'm also going to hold onto a tiny spark of hope that in January 2021 the show will celebrate it's 60th Anniversary, and things can always be announced between now and then...😏

That's excellent news! Really looking forward to these, particularly the Steed and Tara King volumes 😊

From what I've read, it ended when they ran out of scripts to adapt. A quick count from internet sources indicates that Emma Peel appeared in 11 TV Comics stories and Tara King appeared in 28, so there must be a chance of further releases post 2021. I guess there's also a chance of a second annual release. When the possibility of further Avengers releases were mentioned in Vortex magazine earlier this year, Big Finish did say they had a few plans.

Forget when it ended, you can download for FREE the 20 Springbok radio shows that survived and have been remastered as best they could be. Apologies if that is old news, but they are absolutely brill, if very of their time. As an Avengers fan I'll buy these new sets, but am disappointed that they will be of the the less successful comic variety rather than the much better lost episodes. Come on StudioCanal, let BF loose on some otiginal stuff because they will nail it.

I've preordered all three boxsets. 😊 Was somewhat surprised to see that they've all been branded under the Steed and Mrs Peel banner - even the Steed and Tara King volumes!

I hope they create some classy artwork for the sets along the lines of the 'Too Many Targets' design. That artwork for the Vol 1 & 2 comic adaptations was disastrous. I honestly don't think they bothered at all with those !

Interesting cover. It looks as though it combines elements from the four episodes in the box set. Very innovative!

Don't like the artwork on cover at all I'm afraid, not very Avengerish IMO. BF usually do great covers for all their releases, 'Too Many Targets' & 'The Lost Episodes' aside, they seem to have completely missed the mark on the comic adaptations, the artwork is dreadful and now create a really awful mismatched set ! I mean what's this all about ?? The first release is practically a joke I am glad somebody else thinks the same as I do. Of the three the middle one is by far the best and to my mind they should have kept to the silhouette look...you could then have the “reveal“ in the booklet. These latest sets do seem to be a premium priced product, but the package does not appear to back that price tag up. I know others will say it should be just about the audio and I expect the stories will be worth it, but a nice cover would help to sell the product and set the expectations.

The thing is it's not entirely just about the audios, of course that's extremely important, but it's also about the complete package. In general people/fans/collectors like nice visually uniform sets to add to their collections. I have no idea what's happened here because these are truly abysmal ! With the beautiful original art that's available with these stories how they choose these is beyond me. 'Too Many Targets' was spot on, but these, these are quite frankly horrible.

The first cover is pretty terrible...maybe the worst looking BF cover ever. That said I rather like the second one quite a lot. The third is okay but certainly not offensive to my eyes. Yeah I suppose a standard design style for the range would be nice but it certainly isn't a deal-breaker for me.

June 2020 isn’t very far away, so I am hoping for some promotion and information for Steed and Mrs Peel 3.
I ended up buying the Steed and Tara King set on download for price and aesthetic reasons, so I am waiting to see what this set looks like before I place my order.

Seeing the cover in the latest Vortex I know that I will be buying the physical product for The Avengers Comic Strips 4 - Steed and Mrs Peel 3
That is a vast improvement over the Tara King set.

It's a lovely cover isn't it!! Yes I think they may have finally “nailed” the look for these. I know that the silhouette for Mrs Peel is iconic, but I am sure they could do something similar for Tara on her next set. I just did a google search and found plenty that could work. I particularly liked the characters facing each other with them both holding the brollie...just saying, Mr Lamb in case you are reading!
