Hey everyone,
With 2018 coming to a close, I think it's about time we look forward to 2019 and predict what Big Finish will announce/release regarding their Doctor Who ranges.
Personally, I think we will see:
Jenny The Doctor's Daughter 2 (and maybe more) More UNIT The New Series (Probably sets 9-12) More Doctor Chronicles with Jacob Dudman Twelfth Doctor Chronicles (Christopher Thompson maybe?) A return of Constance and Flip after last year's break More Missy sets More Tennant in some capacity And I would love to see Matt Smith back, especially with Amy and Rory
What about you?

January 2119.
"To celebrate the 85th birthday of the great man himself Big Finish were delighted to announce in 2019 the return of Tom Baker's Fourth Doctor in a further run of Boxset adventures, which started with Series 11a and 11b in 2022. As before these were to be released every January and February, but this time the stories were to continue every year until 2086 when the Fourth Doctor celebrated his 75th Series of audio adventures. That was also the year that Sir Tom rightly marked his place in history as the longest running Doctor ever, far outstripping the nineteen year run of the fifteenth Doctor as played by Idris Elba..and the mystifying two year run of a Horse named Barry in the late 2040's." 😝

At the moment we seem to get one Tennant set every 18 months, and I can't see him being available for more soon. And I think Matt and Karen are going to be very, *very* difficult for BF to get.

I predict 2019 will be the year Matt Smith joins David Tennant as a Big Finish Doctor with at least one box set. I predict that following the release of volume 3 of The Prisoner, Big Finish will announce a new series following up the events which close out said volume 3. I predict a late 2019 release for the conclusion of the Charlotte Pollard range. I predict another two volumes of Class.

-More volumes of Class -A second Jenny set, maybe more
Annoyingly I can also predict my ability to buy all these things declining as the end of my studies looms, and money suddenly becomes even more precious. (Depending on how much I end this term with I may begin strategically pre-ordering)

Seriously guys, the Eleventh Doctor Adventures aren't happening when Matt's just been nominated for an Emmy and cast in Star Wars and Karen is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and another major cinematic franchise (Jumanji). Getting them on board is a VERY different proposition to David, Catherine or Billie.

I think we’ll get a short trip called “You Will Obey Me” written by Geoffrey Beevers. At least one Early Adventure will star William Russell. We’ll get a 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea adaptation, possibly starring David Warner. The WarnerDoc will get a box set set in the DU before, during and after the War.

It is all about scheduling and if Matt Smith is keen, it is doable.

Seriously guys, the Eleventh Doctor Adventures aren't happening when Matt's just been nominated for an Emmy and cast in Star Wars and Karen is part of the arvel Cinematic Universe and another major cinematic franchise (Jumanji). Getting them on board is a VERY different proposition to David, Catherine or Billie. I would argue that it isn’t that much different. It is all about scheduling and if Matt Smith is keen, it is doable. Absolutely. Essentially the new series Doctors are all actors who would walk into any prestige drama in the country, and won't be short of US character acting offers either. It really comes down to how they want to spend what little free time they have, and if they want to reprise the role in a very niche way which is largely going to play to a more limited adult audience than the part on TV. Eccleston spoke in 2005 about how he took the role because he was seen as a very stern actor and wanted to do something kids would love, even if he was open to BF, I'm not sure that pull factor exists here. How many kids in reality hear BF work? Capaldi's raised similar rationales for the role at cons and expressed being uncomfortable with his Doctor being merchandised when not all kids will be able to afford the gear (hence the sonic shades so any kid can have a sonic for a quid) while Mattt has seemed to be the most open to BF when talking at cons.Yet that can easily be playing to the crowd. Doing Star Wars doesn't make him less likely, I don't think. That's out in a year so even with reshoots he's gonna be wrapping in the months ahead, it's not like it's an ongoing gig. It may raise his profile but given he was the co-lead and highest paid actor in the most expensive TV show ever made, The Crown, I think he's pretty high profile already. None of them are going to do BF for the exposure or money - it's purely based on whether they want to return to the role and if they want to give up free time to do so. I wouldn't rule ANY of them out but they're all busy and - hey - may not want to reprise the role. That's before we even get to the likes of Karen, Arthur, Freema, Jenna, Matt L and Pearl. I do think we have been massively spoiled that when BF launched almost all of the existing actors were willing to come on board and even the biggest hitters from those that didn't - McGann, Janet, Matthew and Tom - came back eventually. Imagine if Davison, Colin and Sylv just didn't fancy the jobs in 1999 where BF would have gone? I don't wish to besmirch any of the classic series actors but we benefited from them not going on to become stars on the same level as the new Who actors, they tendedto be character actors, often on stage across the country and in smaller roles on TV but they didn't have major international attention such as the new series guys with Marvel, Showtime, Fox et al beating their doors down. Davison was the only one who could be said to be a leading UK actor in honesty. Lou Jameson was probably up there exposure wise with just coming off Eastenders and being well remembered for Tenko. Peter Purves was famous but the vast majority would know him from Blue Peter, not as an actor at all. Getting new series Docs and companions just isn't going to be as straight forward, IMHO, as negotiations to see who was up for it from the classic series. Not just Matt. Even David who has come back a few times isn't coming all that often. I wouldn't put money on ever being able to make a monthly range for the new series, put it that way! I think Jake Dudman will be working quite a lot in the years to come....

Boo!!! Why are you wasting our time with your rational and well-reasoned analysis?!
If you don't have photoshopped gifs of Eccleston, Capaldi and Briggs cosplaying their way into a recording studio then I, for one, have no time for you.
Good day, sir!

More Classics. Jules Verne, Fairytales and folklore, maybe some Poe? Pipe dream but possible An announcement of a new batch of Originals for 2020. Dalek Empire: The Time War seems inevitable Charley meets 8th Doctor Maybe some more New Series one off boxsets here and there Another comics adaptation box Chris and Roz either in the Main Range or another boxset The destruction of the Divergent Universe A Fourth Doctor announcement for the Alicia Ambrose-Bayley companion, maybe joining up with Ann Kelso? Some new series monsters in the Main Range

After the tv show is cancelled as it descended into chaos in 2019 Jodie Whittaker debuts in BF for a proper Christmas special. Teaming up with Eccleston!

As long as Big Finish don't spread themselves too thinly by introducing too many more ranges (which could potentially dilute the quality of their products) then I'll be happy.

An announcement of a new batch of Originals for 2020. Do you mean series 2 of some or all of the first batch, or do you mean a whole new batch?
I think/hope a few series 2 are likely.
BF have said they will do series 2 if series 1 sells well enough. No series 2 would mean series 1 has not sold well enough, which would in turn mean a new batch of new originals is unlikely to sell well.

I predict: New companion for Eighth Doctor following Liv and Helen's tragic deaths in Ravenous 4 Personally I think Liv and Helen are headed for a happy ending (together). After the varying degrees of unhappy endings with Samson & Gemma, Charley, C'Rizz, Lucie, Molly and the one whose name kept changing in Time War 1, I think some of Eight's companions need to get a happy ending. Let's face it, given all we know about the Time War, Bliss's prospects aren't too good either....

I’ll tell you one thing about Ravenous 4. I think it’s Infinity War. So, half of everyone in Doctor Who randomly turns to dust?
