i get the feeling this takes place pre avengers. anyone else think that? I don't think so. There's a reference to "The Big Green Guy and his friends" which wouldn't make much sense pre-Avengers EDIT: Now on Ep 4 - explicitly post-Avengers

This is really strong. If the supporting cast aren't as strong as Daredevil, that's about the only complaint I have so far.
Ritter is fantastic as Jessica. Tough but with heart. Tennant is already terrifying as Kilgrave. I suspect most won't have seen him lik this but if you've seen Secret Smile, it'll give an idea.

I'm 2 episodes in and it's terrific. I never read the comics and knew nothing about the characters going in. Now I want to.
I have seen Secret Smile and Tennant is great at being scary. I really like how his presence has been hinted at and dropped here and there so far.

When Kilgrave is playing it happy go lucky - he's VERY Tenth Doctor. There's a moment in Ep 6 where he just needs the coat and it's him!

Only two episodes in, and Jessica Jones is fairly good, but so far it's not gripping me as much as Daredevil did. Will carry on with it tonight after Doctor Who...

I've seen the first episode. I'm not one for binging and there's plenty else on so I probably won't watch episode 2 for a few days or a week. It's not bad, but it doesn't give me the sense of "OH MY GOD THIS IS THE BEST SERIES EVER" that Agent Carter gave me.
Nice to see Tennant hasn't dropped the British accent.

Carter is miles ahead of Agents Of SHIELD (which I think is down to SHIELD having to pad three times as many eps a season) but so far the two Netflix shows are miles ahead of what ABC are doing.

ok so they do mention the avengers incident in one episode. is luke super strong as well as invulnerable? they are really emphasisng the steel hard skin thing. thank god they got a sweet christmas in there. we all have silly phrases that stand in for curses. i say holy toledo, holy smokes andy, (i think the andy addition a local thing from when were kids) and hey zues mirimba from the tim burton batman the joker says the first time he sees vivki vale / kim basinger. some fans think its silly and comic book goofy but people say goofy things all the time. i love it. i read like cage hero for hire and power man iron first as a kid so it makes perfect sense to me.
the show also has some nice shots of the city different neighborhoods i like trying to pic them out before it becomes apparent.
i know a few people that worked on the show as crew and another that is a dp who didn't. they are all desperate to get on the iron first crew.
for those that arent into comics originally jessica jones was supposed to be jessica drew spider woman who lost her powers but while marvel loved the idea of the book they did want to commit spider woman to this path. so in the comic jessica has no super powers just a hard drinking gumshoe. i think the super strength adds something .
killgrave and the way the shw is using his powers and people are terrifying. honestly ive never seen mind control so scary.

We also know - given events and dialogue in the last ep - that it's not only post-Avengers but its post-Daredevil too.

Favorite line so far: Jessica's lawyer says, "You are coming across distinctly paranoid." Jessica replies, "Everyone keeps saying that; it's like a conspiracy." Exit, stage left.

I just got to the end of Episode 6...7...I really lost count in the binge of this. I'm really liking this a lot. Ritter is great at showing the pain, and fear and broken. Seeing someone who is so strong, but feels so weak, and in a realistic way. She feels real in a lot of ways.
And Mike Colter is like seeing Luke Cage step from the page...creepy. (Feel so bad for him.)

My main issue is, between very public news reports on Jessica Jones & the "Devil of Hell's Kitchen," it really breaks my credulity that SHIELD hasn't shown up ... especially since Daisy is specifically looking for super-powered individuals. I really want, in at least one episode of DDs2, for Daisy, Mae, & Bobbi to try to "extract" Matthew for processing. Let's see how that goes.

I was a fan of the comic and felt like this was as good an adaptation as one could hope for. I enjoyed this more than Daredevil. Ritter makes a great Jessica Jones, Coulter a fantastic Like Cage and David Tennant creates what I think is the strongest Marvel bad guy since Loki. And I am totally down with a Patsy Walker aka Hellcat spin-off at some point. I also like how they are creating their own little Netflix version of the MCU. There are nits to be picked for sure, the coincidence of Jessica's role in the death of Luke's wife is the biggest one and the other is just how much this looks & feels like an R rated ABC tv show is the other. Still, I ate it up and look forward to another go round with Miss Jones and am defintely ready for the Luke Cage series.

Just finished Jessica Jones. Fantastic series! Hope there will be more like this!
And the opening theme song is stuck in my brain now...
