There's no shrotage of names when it comes to people who could've been the Doctor. Who would you have been interested in seeing play the Time Lord, if they had been chosen instead? Also, has to be people who were rumoured/suggested or audtioned for the role, no fantasy castings.

Richard O'Brien is definitely up there, mingling with (mid-90s) David Warner, (mid-60s) Brian Blessed or (early-90s) Richard Griffiths:

David Warner. Everything is better with David Warner. Although we got a little taste of it with Big Finish.

He would have been great. I wouldn't wish S24 on him but Ken playing the darker, manipulative game player? Perfect. For me, to answer the OP and pick someone who was actually in the running rather than fan-casting, Ron Moody as the Third Doctor is something I would have loved to see. A fantastically versatile, magical actor who would have brought something truly vibrant to the part. Fulton McKay as the Fourth DOctor is something I just can't imagine yet he was asked. I'd love to at least see that alt universe. Ditto Hugh Grant as the Ninth Doctor. RTD offered him it and he turned it down of course, but Hugh says he would have done it had he known it would be "legit", and not the cheaper show he remembered. He's an underrated actor and I'd like to have seen him play the part at some point, yeah. Alan Cumming says he's turned it down twice, once with RTD and once with Moffat.....I'd like to have seen what he'd have done with it.

Well, it's not as good as his performance in Take The High Road, but you're in a minority in hating Cumming I think Even if I did dislike his performance though, he's done enough elsewhere to get me interested in what he'd do with the actual lead. Bit like Graham Crowden, when people read about him being considered as Doc 4 they seem to imagine he'd only play it as Soldeed from Horns Of Nimon rather than the decades of other, completely different, performances we'd seen from him.

Oh I understand how acting works. But I now just don't think he'd treat it seriously enough.

I wouldn't have him instead of the actors we did get when he was considered but as I said above, I'd like to see the alternate universe where these things happened just to see what it'd be like. I don't think Alan's the stay in one thing for years type anyway.

He was up for the Doctor for 96, and it would've been very intriguing, but if Tim Curry had instead played the Master, I imagine it may have looked something like this: www.youtube.com/watch?v=vWEnJSoPSoc''They Called me Mad! INSANE! KOSCHEI!''

There’s a horror movie called Alien? That’s really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you.

INSANE! KOSCHEI!'' Curry played a serial killer in the series 5 cliffhanger/ series 6 opener for Criminal Minds. It was quite a subdued performance for Curry and showed a manipulative side that would work really well if he had taken on the Master.
