I'm still not quite sure how well I like how this turned out, but I found this whole set absolutely riveting and stupendous. I had plans to pace myself with it but I couldn't help but listen to the whole thing in a single day. I tip my hat to Tom Baker - as amazing as ever! - and to all involved.

Have just finished listening to 'Fever Island', which was fun. I'm going out this evening but should, just about, have enough time to listen to 'The Perfect Prisoners' part 1 before I go...

Just finished the box set. Well done Mr.Dorney, there were many surprises and twists I did not see coming, because I thought I knew what would happen. The Perfect Prisoners tied everything together in a satisfying way I think, the episode I liked the most with "The Enchantress of Numbers." {Spoiler} I really need to watch "The Daleks' Master Plan" again now, I've not seen it for 2 years. Well done for how the reveals were handled throughout though, I never felt lost because I did not recognize the members of the Syndicate. Also enjoyed how Anya's bond with Sara was dealt with. Simple yet effective. I sure hope Big Finish has plans for Ann Kelso in future releases.

Does anyone know how long the 8A + 8B bundle will be available at the reduced price? Will it go up once one set is on general release, or not until both are?

How necessary is having seen/heard The Daleks' Master Plan to this series overall, would you say?

Not too sure how I feel about all of it, but mostly I have very positive thoughts indeed about it.
Firstly: Tom Baker and Jane Slavin. 10/10. Marvellous pairing, I'm disappointed we won't see more for a while (at least as direct as Doctor/Companion).
Time's Assassin: a suitably mad-cap and bonkers finish, with the cast basically chewing the microphone and it was brilliant.
Fever Island: a loving Ian Fleming take, with utterly hilarious characters. I wish it connected to the boxset arc a bit more but otherwise a solid story all around.
The Perfect Prisoners: probably my favourite finale, and certainly I think it wraps up the arc quite well....but I did have some issues (sorry). Firstly: the twist cliffhanger. Now the cliffhanger was marvellous. Genuinely unexpected. My problem was that....nothing happens with it. There really isn't much done with Anne's identity. There's barely even a reason for its connection and if her name was any different, the plot would stay the same. Secondly, I do think the ending was a bit rushed, though for some of the brilliant conversations throughout, that is a trade-off that I'd be willing to accept.
So all-in-all, a great (if flawed) series that tries to do new things with the 4DAs and succeeds. Hope there's more like it for the future!

I'm really glad this exists. Syndicate is a great little hybrid of Key to Time's umbrella and the worldhopping of its immediate predecessor. The Daleks Master Plan is one of those stories that needs to be seen and a sequel to a story spanning a full dozen episodes is no mean feat. Even better, if this generates enough curiosity over the original... Well, who knows? We might one day get more than a vinyl release of its soundtrack.

Honestly, I could have done without the overarching plot. I was underwhelmed and found the three stand alone stories of the season to be the best of the season. {Spoiler} And with the twist, we might as well had not even bothered with Ann in the long run

I've seen the three surviving episodes, and roughly know what happens in the rest...

I enjoyed The Syndicate Masterplan on the whole, but I have to draw special attention to The Perfect Prisoners. As a fan of Doctor Who, there is still a tiny part of me that's the 5-year-old who first watched it. He doesn't really react to the show much any more, he just sits quietly until something really, really special turns up, then he wakes up and revels in the sheer joy of a fantastic story. In the last few years, there have been only four occasions that have triggered a reaction from him - Empress of Mars, Resolution, The Two Masters, and now The Perfect Prisoners. I'm not sure what it was, but I loved it from start to finish. I loved the exploration of the Syndicate characters, the twists were amazing, and the resolution was so completely appropriate to the situation and beautifully acted. I don't want stuff of this calibre too often or it won't be special any more, but it's always rewarding when stories such as this crop up

How necessary is having seen/heard The Daleks' Master Plan to this series overall, would you say? You will get many, many bonus fan-moments if you have seen it - and the audio pictures will be much better; I could almost see this drama unfold as familiar characters (or their relatives) showed up. For diversity of species DMP tops even the Peladon tales, so it definitely helps to know how all the different people look.
