Seemed a bit bleak in places but I suppose I was forewarned by "disaster" and "extinction"? I found it quite an engaging story - I very much wanted to continue forward and hear what happens next, throughout the whole thing, which is generally a sign of a very good story too. In fact, I think Mr. Morris has done such a good job here that it really does seem to save the whole arc and make bringing Kamelion back seem like a good idea (whereas bringing back Kandyman I'm still not very sure about, lol). Great performances all around, too. I really need more Fifth Doctor news soon, though - I'd so been hoping for another season with Nyssa and Adric that I think I'm having withdrawals.

This really was the best of the trilogy. It was an exciting, creative story and gave a logical reason for Kamelion being taken over, again. Janet Fielding was fantastic and boy did we get a lot of Turlough. My attention wavered a bit and I think I missed something, so I'm looking forward to hearing it again.

I'll be listening to this today, or very soon, barring distractions. The above makes me very happy - promising words about Kamelion, and especially good news concerning Turlough. He's a great character very well played, but sometimes I think BF don't use him much more imaginatively than he was used on television. With Kamelion playing the role of the token 'unpredictable regular', I feel Turlough's role had diminished further, so I'm glad to find this is not the case.

After a couple of fairly run-of-the-mill stories, this was a great conclusion to the trilogy. Sure, the ending was pretty predictable from the themes of the previous stories, but it was still fun hearing it. As mentioned upthread, this is a great story for continuity lovers, so I had a ball Also, was I the only one who had to pause the story towards the end of Part Four until I stopped laughing? "Don't think about me, don't even mention me." I mean, it gives an in-universe explanation, but it's probably the best meta-joke I've come across in Doctor Who

Just had to drop in and say I really really enjoyed this release. I am one of those continuity nerds who wonders about things like where Kamelion is, why we haven’t (in audio) seen romana II come back from espace, etc. So this was very geared for me as we finally get an answer... well on Kamelion! Still waiting on Romana! It is a very well done four hander which with this cast works so well.
As the previous poster mentioned the final request from Kamelion is a bit on the nose and wish it was worded slightly different but oh well.
This also now takes a number of books and short stories out of continuity.
Hinton’s The Crystal Bucephalus and his short “One Perfect Twilight”. “The Bird of Fire” “Mark of the Medusa” The Ultimate Treasure “Qualta “ “The Fall of the Druids”
Imperial Moon could still work in continuity I think.
It also in my mind takes the Kamelion clip from The Awakening deleted scene out of continuity. Which is not a big loss.
Probably the thing that tickled me the most was the joke early on about the Master lying about Kamelion’s origins, but for once he was entirely truthful.
Based on the way this ended I don’t expect any more Kamelion stories unless they try and slot one or two in right before Planet of Fire. However I think they will rightly just assume that the Master has a special connection since he took over Kamelion before and leave it at that.

I thought The Kamelion Empire was the best out of the lot, but I didn’t think it was great. Part 1&2 are really good, there’s some nice world building and an exploration of Kamelion’s origins. Part 3&4 are very on the nose and seemed more determined to lead in to The Five Doctors, with the story of The Kamelion Empire taking a back seat. It just ends up as another story where Kamelion’s mind gets taken over by a strong presence, which is a shame as this story is probably the best example of it and I felt it had potential to explore, but it doesn’t really pursue it.
In the end, the epilogue feels very clunky because it’s not earned it. The Doctor could’ve just banned Kamelion from leaving the TARDIS and it wouldn’t have made any difference. That’s probably more appropriate after 4 stories of Kamelion being a dead weight on the team!
It’s not a story without merit, though. As I mentioned, the first half is good, the four regulars are giving it their all, Turlough especially gets some good material and the soundtrack is great.
As a run of stories, I don’t think it quite worked. They’re all varied in the best possible way, but they all have the same issue when it came to Kamelion. For example, I felt as though Black Thursday had a much better and different way of handling Kamelion (see my comments on the thread for that release), but it didn’t go in that direction and it was less satisfying as a result. There’s one positive thing to come from these releases; at least it’s a definitive end on Kamelion.

I'm two episodes inot this and enjoying it so far. I'll write a few words about it in a couple of days. But I had to mention the musical suite c/o Fool Circle. It's terrific! Has anyone else heard this?

I rather enjoyed this, much as I have rather enjoyed the whole trilogy. If I was being dismissive, I would say that this Kamelion experiment has been 'another box ticked'. If that is the case, this could have been a great deal worse - it is nice to have Turlough back (he's always very entertaining) and Jon Culshaw really made a good job of the various incarnations of Kamelion (he became very Fourth Doctor during the latter half of the story). I'm glad he is becoming a Big Finish regular. Jon's enthusiasm for Doctor Who in general and his appraisal for the Fifth Doctor era is great to hear in the interviews.
I agree with the above poster who felt that the story regressed slightly after part two, with things turning out to be 'chuckling villains' territory once again - mind you, this is very reminiscent of the television era from which it came. Speaking of which, the music is terrifically evocative of that time. The sound design is typically brilliant, with the creatures (the Gors?) sounding very guttural and frightening.
I really enjoyed the ending. The destruction of the TARDIS console, a recreation of the Eye of Orion, and a really melancholy ending for (this phase of) Kamelion's story. I remember Peter Davison and Co joking in DVD interviews that Kamelion spent most of his time during the Eighties locked in a cupboad - it turns out thanks to Jonathan Morris, that that's exactly what happened! The Kamelion trilogy - a very worthwhile project.

Although I liked this story - as a Doctor Who story that delves in to unknown with a visit to the home planet of little used 'companion' - I wouldn't have liked to have Kamelion getting 'taken over' as a plot in every story, as it gets dull after a while. So I hope we don't hear anymore from Kamelion myself as he's not really that interesting. (Jon Culshaw's performace as Kamelion was top notch though.) I'd give this story 3/5.
