A callout to readers, watchers and listeners of the Third Doctor: can I get a list of what stories feature him and UNIT working internationally outside of Britain?
I can remember Jo being sent to North Africa in Dancing the Code and the CIA trying to kill the Doctor in The Devil Goblins of Neptune, but what are the others?

Not sure if it's exactly right as it's been a long time since I read it, but there was a novel called Island of Death (or possibly Islands of Death) that featured the Doctor, Jo and the Brigadier. I think the story took in Africa and India. Hope that helps (if I've remembered right!).

The Mega sees him and Jo travel to the fictional country of Golbasto, though not entirely with UNIT’s approval.

Not sure if it's exactly right as it's been a long time since I read it, but there was a novel called Island of Death .. written by Barry Letts no less. The international travels in Island of Death take the Doctor, Sarah and the Brigadier to 'Bombay' in India and 'Skang Island'.

The only indication of location is that it borders Austria, as the Doctor and Jo have to go via Austria to get there. From how it’s described I’d guess it’s a very small country (In my head I guessed it was similar size to Liechtenstein).

Golbasto is somewhere east of Austria *, which for the story is all we need to know: therefore not friendly territory during the Cold War when 'The Mega' is set.
(I seem to recall that this was a bit of tactful renaming and the original 70s storyline named a real Soviet bloc country??)
* EDIT: Like sherlock just said.
Golbasto was Emperor of Lilliput in 'Gulliver's Travels' so that probably does hint it's a very small country.

It's been a long while, but it's interesting to juxtapose The Mega (which I think I listened to when it came out) and The Devil Goblins of Neptune (which I'm reading now). The Brigadier is a-okay giving his blessing to "loan", for want of a better word, the Doctor to the Red Army to investigate disappearances in Siberia, really emphasising the United Nations in UNIT. But his unauthorised visit to Golbasto (what a wonderful nom de plume, like Cagliostro) must've looked an awful lot like a defection. From a Cold War perspective, that's got to be a constant fear for UNIT. The idea that he could be snatched up or willingly leave to join someone in the Warsaw Pact with better resources.
That's a rather rich playground to explore:

In that vein, there is a DWM comic story concerning a Soviet agent infiltrating UNIT to try to persuade the Doctor to defect (least according to the TARDIS wiki synopsis): tardis.fandom.com/wiki/Target_Practice_(comic_story)
