Way back when Dark Shadows was on TV, a series of novels based on the series were published by Paperback Library. They were all written by "Marilyn Ross" (Dan Ross using his wife's name as a pen-name) and bore some resemblance to the TV series, but often not too much (like the Gold Key comics!). Mysteriously, and with almost no information, it appears that these books are being made available on MP3 audio CDs. In some cases, Romy Nordlinger is listed as the narrator. I don't know if these are really real (Amazon sometimes lists things based on scant information, and listings can vanish without trace just as suddenly as they appear. You can see the first of the series listed here - Dark Shadows. Time will tell if these are true - some of them have a release date of 26 March 2019 - and who knows what the quality will be like?

On a punt, I've pre-ordered the first two (Dark Shadows and Victoria Winters were the first two in the series) and will report back. Will the order be cancelled or delayed? What's the quality of the discs and packaging? What's the reading like? Are there any enhancements (music, sound effects)? Keep an eye out for the answers!

I’m very intrigued! I love the Ross novels and find it almost shocking that with all the Dark Shadows news I’m currently subscribed to, that this has not been announced by anyone!! Yes, it makes me wonder about the validity, but I do know that Romy is a very reputable narrator and I think has the perfect voice for this particular type of fiction. She does dialects very well, and many different vocal inflections with aplomb.
At any rate, the price is right and there is little to lose by trying a couple as you are! Will eagerly await any news, and your thoughts!

Haven't Dan Curtis Productions confirmed this isn't happening?

OK, my order (with Book Depository to avoid international postage charges) is still live - and 8 days until the alleged release date. I'll report what happens (seems likely to be order cancelled).

I see that the Amazon listings all have changed the release dates! Honestly, who has the time to create bogus listings like this? And what’s in it for them? Amazon doesn’t charge you until the item is actually shipped, so it’s not like anyone’s making any money from the scam! It baffles me....I just don’t get it!

My orders (with Book Depository, because free postage) have had their release date revised to 18 June.

Apparently Jim Pierson confirmed that the Ross audiobooks are happening at the premier of the Dan Curtis documentary in the US (via a post in a Facebook DS group). I notice that Amazon now have Kathryn Leigh Scott listed as narrator on the titles.

argh I'm gonna have to clear up some shelf space...
I wonder if they could be convinced to do an audio of that one unofficial novella that caps off the series about Victoria being Barnabas' daughter.

You mean the one Craig Hamrick wrote (“The Secret of Victoria Winters”) from some of Dan (Marilyn) Ross’ notes? That was actually quite good, and although it’s much shorter than the books in the series, it’s written in a style that really fits with Ross’ style. I doubt it will be considered, since it was never published, except on Craig’s DS website (I think it’s still there). So now these are back ON again, huh? This is all REALLY bizarre. It’s announced on CHS, then later redacted on CHS, then announced again by Jim Pierson himself? I’m sorry but seriously, WTF?? I wish they could get their stories straight.
