However, thinking a bit more long term than the cheap UK vacation... I am not sure how long BF or even the BBC (and with it the whole franchise) would survive if the currency tanks and we all (this certainly won't be a localized event and we on the continent would feel it too) would get dragged into another crisis. No idea if even the UK as we know it will survive a hard Brexit.
You might laugh the danger in the face, but I am pretty apprehensive about the situation.
Oh, no — you are absolutely correct. I said the selfish part of me. I wouldn’t wish this current disastrous state of affairs on our UK-based friends, much less how much bad it’ll be if and when the Tories crash and burn out of the EU. This is a nightmare scenario already, I don’t want it to get worse.Yeah, it is. Sadly I fear, as is the way of these things, that things will get worse before they get better. If we learn one thing from history, it is that people need to get burned before they learn.
Sad, scary and preventable.
However, to take you up on your fatalistic selfish view ( )- I also would take advantage of a cheap UK holiday. I only have been once to London for a conference and would love to travel around and visit all the friends of mine over there.

Incidentally, my post should have read "how much worse," not "how much bad"! Perils of posting from my phone and trying to write/edit while at work and people are pestering me

I wonder why it is taking so long to make a decision ... I mean it's not rocket science. they are currently at 1:1 which is not bringing in enough revenue. The market rate of say US$ is approx. £1:$1.26. They can't jump straight to $1.26 because of customer backlash, so increase it to $1.10 which will bring in more revenue. Give 4-6 weeks' notice of the change and make it clear that it will be regularly reviewed every 6-9 months, or more frequently if there are major currency fluctuation. Then, provided sales are holding up, in 6 months' time bump it up to $1.15 and then, again subject to sales volumes holding up, move it again to $1.20 in another 6 months. If they give a few weeks' notice of each change there shouldn't be too much negative feedback. So BF could end up with a $1.20 rate that increases STG revenue by 20% but is still slightly better than the market FX rate for US customers. Throw in the 10% discount currently only available to UK customers as a sweetener and hey presto. You get the idea ... I don't really see why it's such a difficult decision that's taking so long It is probably more difficult than you would think. And as Jason has said they are trying to avoid having to raise prices for a few years, so that is digging deep into the data, looking at trends, trying to predict trends, factoring in what a hard Brexit does to their business as opposed to a soft Brexit, how do either of those thing affect their supply chain, affect labor....so many factors....granted this is something that should have been looked at and addressed several years ago but that it is taking this long is an encouraging thing to me. Says they are doing their work on it and when it is ready, it will be ready. And the end of July and still no word. I continue to believe Brexit leaves so many unanswered questions that it has to be a factor in the delay. That said and Big Finish will probably surprise with an August 1st announcement.

Hmm. Now it is September and it still is awfully quiet on that front. I guess they are really going to wait and see how much of a disaster the whole Brexit mess is going to be and maybe we overseas customers are just the lifeline they might need. In any case, if we have not heard anything by mid- October... Jason is coming to the German Who convention in October and I am going to ask him about it. Maybe he has some kind of announcement for us there. Who knows?

I would guess that the most noticeable effect of Brexit for exporters of non-perishable or intangible items will be that if the pound falls further, income from overseas customers will convert into a few more pounds than it would otherwise have done. But given the effective 1:1 "exchange rate" already being paid by BF's overseas customers, even that won't be much help in removing the disparity with what UK buyers pay unless the pound collapses to $1 or even €1 !!

Update 5th September
BFP are currently working on how best to implement our new pricing structure. We will not be implementing any decision on price revision until after the 31st October 2019.
Thank you for your patience!

I would imagine the next 8th Doctor series will be released a year or so after Ravenous 4 comes out, maybe after his next Time War box set? Now, to buy Transference before it becomes even more expansive.

My guess will be that they will keep the 6monthly schedule, McGann is the poster boy after all.
I reckon they only waited with the announcement because something big is going to happen in Ravenous 4 (my guess would be one or both companions dying) and they do not want to spoil this by announcing anything too soon. So they will wait at least until the release of Ravenous 4.

We will probably get Ravenous 4 the second week of October, we could easy see the follow-up announced shortly afterwards. And even if BF is saying until 10/31, we are probably talking about later before they figure out exactly how they are going to proceed.

Didn't it take a year for Big Finish to release Ravenous 1 after Doom Coalition 4 ended in 2017 if I remember correctly? Although you're right, there were only 6 months between Dark Eyes 4 and Doom Coalition 1. Since they already have a title for the next series it would be really nice if it came as soon as possible. Since there's a new spin-off with Liv coming in December I'm dreading she might die at the end of the next box set. We'll just have to wait and see.

But as I said above, I am attending the German Who convention in October, and Jason will be coming, and I will be outing myself as the absolute uber-fan and ask a few pesky questions. Maybe there will be some announcements. Or at least some obscure news worth sharing.
