I'm glad they're taking the time to really figure it all out, especially after the unpleasant surprise we had earlier in the year. But on the other hand, the suspense is killing me, and I'd rather just rip the Band-Aid off and get it over with.
And I have to agree with Project37 - If it's a big increase, well, I've got a set entertainment budget and lots of other things competing for it. It's entirely possible they'd actually end up making less money off me than they did before.
As it is, a straight up currency exchange would close to double the cost for me. I can't just absorb that and carry on as I was.

I don’t suppose anybody has heard anything new on this front? Just wondering, since it now seems that the catastrophe is imminent (end of January?) and I haven’t seen any additional news about it either on their site or via their Twitter channels.
Not that I really should be / can afford a lot right at the moment, but better some short-term pain than stare down doubled prices later...

Current exchange rate (what Google tells me anyway lol) is that £1 = $0.59 CAD. So...no, not quite double, but near enough...

I think end of January "catastrophe" is already priced in to the FX rate by the markets. It will now be the progress of the trade talks and whether there will be a trade deal, extension or no trade deal on 31 December 2020 that will drive the value of the £. Until we start to get some more clarity on that question, I would not expect much movement.

No more developments on this one - it is now almost a year since BF first raised the issue, before then "parking" it.
Now that the £ appears to be appreciating, the issue must have become more acute for BF.
It's hard to see how it takes this long to make a decision ...

Perhaps they have had a good look-at-it and decided to leave things as they are!!! The proposed price-change may not necessarily work in their favour???

It certainly worked in their favor when they first announced it, at least as far as my buying goes. I panicked and ordered a bunch of releases. Spent way too much money. Now I'm taking a wait and see approach and checking the exchange rate.

Normal summer ( ) is late June to late September in terms of solstices and equinoxes, though (at least here in Canada) it's more commonly thought of as July/August.

Hmm. Interesting. Well, it is basically Jason acknowledging that nobody can make any guess what will happen with Brexit and COVID in the coming months.... Rightly so.

I can’t believe they’ve hidden this again after the issues it caused last time. It really is like they don’t learn.

To be fair, they’re not saying they’re not an equally valid purchase. What they’re saying is that they’ve looked at the sales figures and are noticing an even larger gap between the sales of physical and digital releases. They’ve not gone all out and canned the CD releases, instead they’re labelling them as “collector’s editions”, as there’s no guarantee they’ll receive a repressing. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that; it’s a good way to ensure physical releases whilst not being worse off by having excess hanging around the warehouse. Basically learning from their mistake, which doesn’t happen with Big Finish all that often! They let us know when stock is getting closer to being out of print, though I don’t think that’s happened for any recent releases, except Class which are intentionally limited.

I totally get what you mean, but to me it just feels like a small minutia insinuation, and that doesn't 100% sit well with me. Oh well.
