Its "Full On" early Torchwood in themes but set between Miracle Day and Aliens Among Us maybe after More Than This. And After listening to Behind the Scenes certain scenes will be even more "Interesting" on Relisten, Regards mark687

Tim Foley giving Guy Adams a very serious run for his money here, an excellent story and made even better by Eve's amazing performance. Even for not being as grisly as Gods of Frost, it was almost as scary - very unnerving. Smashing start to the new Torchwood season!

Well, that was 9 out of 10 excellent. I'm still not entirely convinced that Torchwood needed to feature old Doctor Who monsters in the first four releases of this latest series, but as the decision has been made to do it, this is the way! Where to start? The delightful echoes to the original television story (the music is reminiscent of Dear Dudley, some of the names are familiar and my favourite echo is the brief mention of the scientist's hair needing to be dark as opposed to blond, bringing back memories of blond Wanda Ventham's stories of wearing her black wig); the extremely creepy, sleazy men behind the 'women in peril' films (my 'favourite' being weaselly Derek, played by Gavin Swift); the subtle use of sinister sound effects from that story, helping to visualise slimy, slithering Fendahl!
It's a given really, that Eve Myles is great as Gwen, mercifully 'out of it' for much of the time, and yet true to form, one step ahead. Mark Hendrick's sound design is wonderfully atmospheric and never lets up in its sinister soundscape.
The idea that the unpalatable stage is set for something even more horrific, with the characters out of their league horror-wise, is a great one, and really well told by Tim Foley. Lovely.

Absolutely brilliant, and as mentioned earlier, Tim Foley is becoming one of the stars of Torchwood. I don't want to say too much, but having Eve's husband and Guy Adams performing was quite a treat.

It is. Gwen talks specifically to Rhys about telling Anwyn goodnight and I think there was a reference to the hub being destroyed, So I would even say post More Than This.

I think mark meant full on early Torchwood in relationship to the sexual themes but I could be wrong.
Great story. 10/10
I did get a bit confused in that it seemed to give two separate reasons how Gwen was... put in the position she starts the episode in.

Very good episode indeed, a really nice and creepy opener with disturbing topics dealt with in a very satisfying way by Tim Foley. I too think that he's becoming my favorite writer for this range. Not a single bad episode since he was hired for Aliens Among Us 2 back in 2017. I really hope the next one is as good as it appears to be, being a huge fan of Jo myself. Then again, I'm still wainting for the Torchwood range to deliver a less than good episode.

I don't think I've felt more visceral hatred for a character than I feel toward Derek. Good job all.

Very enjoyable indeed! I have to agree about Derek. What a creepy man! Good start to the season, this.

That was fun! A really nice imaginative and dark Torchwood. That's what I want to hear. I went in expecting Gwen to be planning to take out an everyday snuff film operation but didn't expect her to be taken over, literally, by the Fendahl. And I was very surprised by her genealogy backstory, and link to the Fendahl. I just really liked that! Then again I was always going given the sort of horror things I grew up watching in the 1980s But yes, just very, very good.

Great story as usual for this range. Very creepy, very sleazy, very Torchwood. Makes me wonder if the Sex Alien from series one would have worked with a better writer.... Maybe not.
Loved the reference to Leela.
