I Am the Master is set before Keeper of Traken and features an appearance (sort of) by the Fourth Doctor. The backstage part of its product page specifies that ‘I Am The Master is set after The Keeper of Traken.‘ Plus it wouldn’t be the first time the Master encountered the Doctor out of sequence.

Doesn't really fit in with the post-Traken Beevers releases, IMO.

Alright, I’ll be the first to admit I was quite cautious when I first came to this boxset. Aside from a few stories, I wasn’t particularly impressed with this arc and the way it was going.
Despite enjoying Mark Bonnar’s performance, I felt like they had honestly ran out things for the Eleven to do and the Ravenous to me just came across as yet another slathering monster with little to no substance and the ability to seemingly develop new abilities when the plot required them to.
Call me a misery guts I guess.
However, I was particularly impressed by this outing. Acted in my opinion as a fitting send off for both the Ravenous and the Eleven whilst further developing the mythology of the former and showing them to be a real threat. Combine that with throwing a few of the Masters into the mix and you have an epic narrative and a great finale. Would highly recommend.

Does anyone want to deal with Missy's flirtations with The Deathworm Master? Michelle Gomez is a natural. She makes everything seem effortless. Also, long live Eric Roberts.

I'm still quite new here, and my current understanding is that this community likes to have one big thread per release, so here I am. If I am in breach of any etiquette here, please let me know before I wind up bumping a thread that's several years old to gush about Maggie Stables or something.
ANYWAY --
I just finished binging Ravenous. All of Ravenous. Health problems producing severe chronic pain kept me awake for about 3 days, so I wound up doing it all in one very loooooong session, with lots of backtracking. I suspect I'll want to listen to it again sooner rather than later, paired with Doom Coalition, as with my pain meds I'm sure I missed a lot. Even so, wow. What a hell of a ride Day of the Master turned out to be.
Beevers was, as ever, delightful, and Jacobi--as always--stole the show. This was my first exposure to the Eric Roberts.Master in Big Finish, and... he was fine. Not sure how I feel about him yet, though, so i guess I'm still waiting to be impressed. Missy was a lot of fun, too. Though as great as Day was, it did leave a bit of a bad taste in my mouth. Big Finish really screwed up big time w/ their Time War premise, and I hope they realize that and rectify things before it's too late, because right now it seems as though they won't allow Jacobi or Gomez to interact with any Doctors, and that's basically a crime, right?
I've said it before and I'll say it again: all Big Finish had to do was say that using the Moment scrambled the Doctor's memories, then they would have had carte Blanche to do ANYTHING with the Time War, and crossover new and classic Who as much as they'd've liked. It wouldn't even be much of a stretch considering the actual text of Day of the Doctor already establishes that the Doctors' memories will be affected by the Moment. Ah well.
The ultimate resolution to the Ravenous was also pretty solid, though I do wish we'd gotten to see more of Artron as a wish-granting genie--and more of the mummy-Master on the desert planet, too. Ravenous 4 packs so much into those final three episodes it almost makes the preceding three sets feel like a bit of a waste.
Speaking of which, I'd be remiss if I didn't at least comment briefly on Ravenous 3's "Christmas Special." I'm not sure if it was a good story or not, but I enjoyed the hell out of it. Very early into the second half, once I realized just what, exactly was going on, I started grinning like a fool and didn't stop. This feels like the "ultimate" concept for the TV show's Christmas specials, the kind of Premise RTD and Moffat would have dreamed of doing, but never had the time or money or balls to actually try. Honestly it's right up there with including Jesus Christ, Buddha, or Mohammad as a character--and then going for the *actual* historical figure rather than the heavily romanticized cultural icon.
.....
Well, that's all I can think to say. I have now listened to EVERYTHING Big Finish has recorded with Paul McGann as the Eighth Doctor with the sole exception of the latter two Time War sets (I keep waiting for TW2 to go on sale). I began my foray into Big Finish a year or two with Storm Warning and have been on one hell of a ride ever since. I'm not sure how I feel now, not having a mountain of McGann stories to look forward to, but if nothing else I can find solace in the fact that I'll finally be able to discuss his future work here, with you beautiful people, as they come. Here's hoping we see much, much more of the Eighth Doctor! And Liv and Helen, too!

I hope you feel a bit better soon and can enjoy all of it again.
And no worries about having no stories to look forward to... I also started out with the Eighth Doctor, but then also came onboard with Sixie. He can be an acquired taste, but Big Finish managed to make him one of their stars. Deservedly so. And I guess nobody on this forum will complain if you start gushing about Evelyn in an old thread. Go right ahead.

Re listening to Day of The Master i have to say i loved the scene where 8 and The TV Movie Master are reunited and how they mimicked the 1996 movie Master theme whenever the Master showed up. very John Debney

I finally got around to listening to this and listened to the whole set in one fell swoop last night.
I have to say I really enjoyed it. The stories were fun and did a nice job of pulling together all the strands of the story that had been introduced over the previous box sets.
Loved having all the Masters in it and Michelle Gomez especially was a joy. I have always enjoyed the Eleven, great character played very well, though there were some points in which all the voices were talking that I found it a bit hard to understand. Was probably my microphone. I should probably re-listen on headphones.
Didn't expect some of the plot developments - Artron, for example - but I thought the way that played out was delicious.
I'll have to re-listen to all 4 box sets in a row one of these days. I'm sure I will pick up details I missed the first time around (or forgot about, since it's been a while since the first set came out).
Great stories overall.
