Seems to be audio only and no actual book, unlike the previous book. Will definitely be getting this.

Glad to see there's a new release in this line. Hopefully there's more in the future.

Glad to see there's a new release in this line. Hopefully there's more in the future. I was listening to Under Glass from the third audio series the other day,and really enjoyed it all over again. So this news couldn't be more welcome. Well, it could - we could be getting more full-cast dramas - but I'm very much looking forward to this.

Yeeessss! I love to immerse myself in that world.
Hey, I did not know until today Drexel and the White Guardian were played by the same actor.

Over on CultBox, our man Rich Cross has reviewed 'Festival of Darkness', calling it an "An absorbing audio thriller" - and apparently there's a Q&A with Louise Jameson on the end too.

Anybody listening to this? It seemed to me that track 4 ended abruptly, just when a dancer was starting her performance. Next track refers to "Jill, the dancer" so it seems to me that there's something missed. I downloaded it again, and track 4 finished at the same point - 23:44 is the length of the track.

Thanks for confirming. I've emailed Big Finish to advise - hopefully it'll be a quick fix.

I've heard back from BF. They're investigating, and expect to upload a new version shortly.

Just listened to this - what a gutsy, fabulous story from Natasha Gerson! Tom's hatred of Martindale is never more intense and the twists and turns go in unexpected directions. I hope this isn't it for the franchise and there will be more audiobooks if nothing else. I've started rewatching the series with a view to relistening to the audios afterward. I don't know how people can only watch a great series once and then leave it behind. You can get so much more on reviewing, especially the little pauses and looks between the characters, and the aforementioned animosity is also a lot more clear. It could still do without Bruce Boa attempting a French accent though.

About 3/4 of the way through this. Enjoying it, but will post my thoughts in full when I have finished it.
One niggle - early on Tom buys Smiley's People to read but according to Wikipedia it was published in November 1979, not August/September when the novel is set.

Really great novel. Almost like episode 1 of the second season of the TV show. Scary, atmospheric and wonderfully read by Louise Jameson. The Edinburgh setting gave it a real sense of place and the city itself was almost a character in its own right. If I had to have any negative points it would be that Martindale comes across as quite a randy old dog. Still, I suppose he is meant to be a product of his era. More seriously,
It is very obvious from early on the Imogen is behind it all in some way or other and she is the one Department 7 should be focussing upon and yet this penny utterly fails to drop with Tom or Anne until quite late on in the novel. Drexel however was a pleasant surprise.
It made me want more tales of Tom Crane and Roy Martindale, and I'm not really sure if the framing sequence of Adam reading his father's papers used in this and the previous novel adds any value or indeed is really necessary at all. Overall 9/10 - more please BF.
