Very pleased with the Valeyard story. And what an amazing voice! And the box set has been a good one, with much more development for Bliss and an interesting variety of Time War tales. Ps. Can we keep Bliss on after the Time War? Could be tricky, but I’m sure there’s a way. It’s Doctor Who after all! I’m just wondering now, what on earth do they have in store for box 4? And, crucially, will it mark the end of the series? I’m not ready! He is an amazing actor he has a scene in Nicholas and Alexandria and it always moves me to tears the man is one hell of an actor as well as an amazing vocal

Relsietening to The War Valeyard to see what i have missed on my first listen. Michael Jayston really is superb in this. What a great realDoctor he would have made.Just like Warner would have made. I am glad I have Big Finish to show me things that really SHOULD have been I am now posting something heretical in saying that I liked this set of stories a lot more than the Lucie set, and part of that is the amazing Valeyard story. You leave My Lucie alone🤪 But i can see your view they are a Good set of stories its actually taken me a while to warm to Bliss but began to get used to her during the Companion Piece audio in Ravenous

Not sure if they’ll use Terry Molloy or if they can somehow obtain the services of Julian Bleach but it would be strange if he didn’t make an appearance. You are probably right.Infact i never even contemplated Davros being in it at all .He has not appeared in any of the Box Set Time war stories so far though i would definitely welcome his intrusion in Gallifrey or this set of stories ,ahhhhh you’ve got me excited 🤪

Makes you wonder what he has seen up to.... We know from the TV series that he has been involved at least marginally... and he is a resource the Daleks would not want to waste. However. My suspicion is that we get one great finale for the Time War tying everything together, most likely in addition to the sets that are already planned. Honestly, I can not believe the Doctor not helping Romana now that she achieved undesirable status with the big boss... quite the opposite, he would be proud. Maybe they wait for that to bring out more big guns? I am definitely waiting for a clash of the Doctor with Time War Rassilon, since it appears there is no love lost between the two. And just imagine the glory of a shouting match between Rassilon and Davros. Could a finale get anymore epic than that?

Looking at the releases and what they have been doing over the past couple of years, I think it is a given this is going to happen. If it will be a single set or more is anybody’s guess however. Yeah, it is sad that these performers are not longer with us, but at least for Olistra they would have a work around in having a previously unknown incarnation. Timey- wimey and all that. Maybe they might even get Dalton for the axe- crazy Rassilon. I am just waiting for the announcement.

It took me a very long time to actually warm to the TIME WAR sets at all it seemed like flogging a dead horse, but with the excellent Gallifrey and McGann story sets I eventually did and the very chilling War Master sets am on board for whee Big Finish takes it....a certain wooden hut in a certain desert

The first 8th Doctor Time War set was a bit uninspired (apart from the first story). But the offerings we have gotten this year alone were pretty outstanding IMHO.
Really like the direction this is going.

I think something like the Time War was always going to be difficult to do,we knew the direction the story goes and also limited by what had occurred in the John Hurt sets it was not going to be easy for the writers to come up with inspiring story telling but glad to say the writers did just that.

I’ll say it again .... the Valeyard meeting the WarnerDoc. How would they jive or conflict? There’s no “he is the darkness in your soul” connection, no “I am your dark future, you are the things I have lost” between them. Warner’s seen his soul, and he is a coward at heart. A cunning coward, true. He ran away. The Doctor ran towards the war. Ohh sure, he tried to avoid it but he still got involved. Warner ran away. Even the Master acknowledges he was right to do so and he kept his soul by running but, fundamentally, the key event that would lead to the Valeyard is thus missing from him. The War Doctor embraces the darkness in himself and ran from being the Doctor. The WarnerDoctor embraced being the Doctor and ran away from his darkness.
Throw in River Song and you’ve a fascinating exploration of what it means to be the Doctor.

I liked the previous Warner stories for exactly that reason, but a story like that would be the cherry on top.

I hadn’t considered that they might be leading the three ranges (War Master, Eighth Doctor and Gallifrey) to one final Special boxset, but now you have mentioned it I love the idea and would make a lot of sense. Perhaps they are planning to bring the Master & the Doctor back to Gallifrey for their final boxset which currently ends these Time War stories with Gallifrey: Time War IV. It doesn’t have a release date at the moment, so that could come soon after the final Eighth Doctor set and perhaps directly lead on from it. However I have been disappointed that there hasn’t been more cross over between the ranges already, so I shouldn’t get my hopes up - like I had hoped that Davros was going to appear in the last War Master set. But the potential of that final Gallifrey set does get the “juices flowing” and of course I still anticipate that boxset will include the death of Romana II. Which could be even more poignant if she sacrifices herself because the Doctor refuses to take action.

Actually this lack of cross-overs made me very suspicious that we will get something like a cross-over finale. This somehow reminded me a lot of the long-term absence of a meeting of River and Benny- which, secretly, had been in the planning for a couple of years until they announced it. For me, it just has a very similar feel... so yeah, I am pretty sure this is going to happen. And honestly, it would be too big a chance to miss.
Hmm. Your idea with Romana also sounds very interesting and emotionally gripping. I am really curious how the whole thing will turn out and which path they decide to go down. I am open for anything. Surprise me. Shock me.

Yeah ..just don’t shock me too much... the tv show was enough of a shock 🤪 Well, going into Lies in Ruins unprepared gave me a sleepless night (the TV series had more of the... opposite effect on me ). But if I knew what I was going into, I could schedule listening to a time when I am best prepared emotionally... So yeah, shock me, I try to prepare myself.

Gallifrey have flirted with her demise several times in the past. Romana will always be my favourite companion and I hope there are more stories with the Fourth Doctor in the production pipeline.

I rarely know what’s going on with folks where is Lalla off to?Geez that makes it even more certain if she is 😪 and if she rarely records how short will the range of fourth Doctor and Adric adventures be...?
