The casting was pretty on target, though Holden is prettier than I expected him to be. I'm excited to see the rest of the season.

Finished watching the first four episodes of The Expanse this weekend. Fantastic! I am on tenterhooks waiting for the next episode. Exciting show. First four episodes are on the Syfy channel website for free: www.syfy.com/theexpanse/episodes

I love the books. A lot of the casting for the series is way different than what I had in my head and it is causing me some problems. Plus, I kind of think Thomas Jane is an actor who makes horrible choices. The show looks great though.

It is great. The more I watched, the more I'm hooked. I wasn't sure about the cast at first, either, but it does really work.

I like this show, but I don't love it. Although, the stories have been compelling enough, it's the characters and the actors portraying them, which I have found not to be overly interesting. I'm accepting its characters as now likable more due to the volume familiarity of viewing them for 8 episodes. Thanks Ela for bringing The Expanse to my attention. I notice its novels in the bookstores all the time now.

The Expanse season 2 premiers on February 1st with a double-episode. The second season consists of 13 episodes, three more than in season 1. I'll be seeing those of you interested again soon.

For those who haven't watched The Expanse yet, it's available on Netflix internationally, except in North America. In North America, try Amazon Prime.

It took me awhile to get invested in it, as it did (at the time) with the re-imaged Battlestar Galactica, but I'm now hooked and will watch The Expanse until its conclusion. I've viewed all 5 of Season 2's episodes as they aired on Wednesday nights on the Space Channel. This TV series keeps getting better and better as it goes along...

Can someone give me an order of the books? No matter how hard I try, I can't seem to find the correct order online. Thanks.

Can someone give me an order of the books? No matter how hard I try, I can't seem to find the correct order online. Thanks. Here you go.The order of the novels already published: Leviathan Wakes Caliban's War Abbadon's Gate Cibola Burn Nemesis Games Babylon's Ashes Just below that list in the wikipedia link, you'll see the novellas. They are not necessary to understand the novel series, but they add extra background on the various characters. One of them has a clear placement between two of the novels. One, The Churn, actually takes place before the novels, but won't mean as much to you if you read it before you've gotten to know the characters in the novels; I think I read it after I'd read at least two of the books. The third has an unclear placement, and will mean more to you if you've read at least the first three books, I think. Two of the short stories listed, "Drive" and "The Butcher of Anderson Station" actually take first before Leviathan Wakes, but again, are not needed to understand the novels and probably better read after you've read at least the first book. They just add additional background. I haven't read the last short story listed yet, "The Hunger After You're Fed". Hope this helps.

I'm a big fan of the novels but have yet to jump into The Expanse TV show. I really don't like Thomas Jane as an actor and cannot accept him in the role of the detective.

Franck (left) + Abraham = its author James S. A. Corey. This was news to me! I also noticed 2 additional characters (1 currently being explored in a different surrounding) as Rocinante crew members listed on that "novel series" Wikipedia page - so spoiler alert for us TV series viewers.

Does Miller sometimes come across as a sleazebag in the novels?
