Can't say I'm too terribly thrilled about this. Candy Jar's overzealous and aggressively possessive approach to The Brig, to the point of trying to say that Twice Upon A Time was wrong and their own internal family tree for the Brig was the correct one, plus the "I wanted to take them in a different direction to Big Finish" from the blurb makes really really leery about this...

copied from the press release in the email: Looks like their email could have used a proof reading. I won't complain, more counter measures is always a good thing, but I wish that they'd do readings of their work.

So is it a two-book novel or a story told over two novels? What even is a two-book novel?

Candy Jar has done a nice job with the Brig. I may not agree with everything they have done, but the books have consistently improved and been highly enjoyable reads. Also, Candy Jar has been a pleasure to deal with, quickly resolving a few shipping issues that weren't even their fault.
Instant pre-order for me.

Well, I fully expect them to “accidentally” contradict the audios.

I like some of the Brig stories but I kinda have to pretend it's a different character as he's just....not the Brig a lot of the time. BF cancelled CM before resurrecting it for next year so I'm happy there'll be more Chunky and co than ever after looking like it was all done. Surely the BF original elements like Sir Toby will be off limits though, and only anything from Remembrance will be? Unless BF do a deal, that'd surely be the default assumption. I'd be a bit hypocritical not being open to the idea of this given I haven't really like much of New Counter Measures at all and miss the more ITC Spy show earlier boxsets. While hearing more of the cast next year will be great, having Who monsters face them is kinda the opposite to why I liked CM in the first place. It was more grounded than Who while still being out-there - a bit Department S or early Avengers-y. We got sci-fi and alien elements but nothing as pure Who as Having Daleks and Movellans. I mean, they'll probably be good stories given cast and writers but just not the kind of CM I fancy. Which is rather silly since they were birthed by a Dalek story and have already met The Great Intelligence but hey

I'm half intrigued by these - because I love Counter Measures - but they sound a bit straight-laced at present.
They took his wife...big mistake! Hmmmm
