After the belter that was the San Diego Comic-Con Panel today, I thought it would be nice to have an area for talking about all the news as well as any future developments/rumours. I'll start with the cliff notes of the panel
- May 1st, 2020: Black Widow has her prequel movie officially confirmed, with a guest cast including David Harbour, Rachel Weisz and Florence Pugh
- Fall 2020: Falcon and The Winter Soldier team-up for their Disney+ exclusive limited TV Series
- November 6th, 2020: The Eternals is the newest addition to the MCU roster which stars Richard Madden, Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek and Kumali Nanjiani.
- February 12, 2021: Introducing the first Asian American superhero to feature in cinemas, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings casts Simu Liu as the titular hero and confirms that the real Mandarin will appear for the first time in the MCU
- Spring 2021: WandaVision, the second Disney+ exclusive series, will feature Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany in their respective roles post-Avengers: Endgame and will directly tie into Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness
- May 7th, 2021: Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness will feature both Benedict Cumberbatch and Elizabeth Olsen in the MCU's first foray into the horror genre. Directed by returnee Scott Derrickson
- Spring 2021: LOKI, the limited series, will star Tom Hiddleston in a somewhat post-Avengers: Endgame timeline(timey-whimy) where he escapes with the Tesseract and has not lived the events of Thor Ragnarok or beyond.
- Summer 2021: What If?, an animated series featuring numerous original cast members, will premiere on Disney+
- Fall 2021: Hawkeye, the final Disney+ show, for now, will feature Jeremy Renner returning as Hawkeye, along with Kate Bishop, yet to be announced. Hawkeye's time as Ronin will also be explored.
- November 5th, 2021: Taika Watiti helms Thor: Love and Thunder, bringing back Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, now taking on the mantle of Thor. Both Tessa Thompson and Chris Hemsworth to appear
- Dates TBA: The Fantastic Four and Mutants will be coming soon, as well as Black Panther 2, Guardians of the Galaxy 3, Captain Marvel 2, and, the surprise of the evening... Blade will be rebooted with Mahershala Ali starring.
More info on future releases is rumoured to be revealed at D-23 next month.

So, it's going to be interesting to find out what the actual story behind Natalie Portman dropping out, and then back into, these movies is. Did they just offer to bump up her role, or what?
Actually, I think the most interesting thing about this lineup is that I got the impression that people were most interesting in getting were the sequels, and (with one, perhaps two exceptions) they're all TBA.

My thoughts now...
- Black Widow has a very interesting cast, and I'm looking forward to it, unlike before, simply as I now have a bit of info to go on. - Falcon and The Winter Soldier is a great place to start in regards to going forward after Avengers Endgame - The Eternals and Shang Chi are going to be the next Guardians of the Galaxy, with both movies having a brilliant cast and promise story-wise - WandaVision, while still not the greatest name for a show in the world, is exciting, and I hope Tom King's Vision miniseries has a bit of an influence on it - Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness is the best title ever, and I loved the first one as it's the most underrated solo film in the MCU. And a direct steer into horror? Yes Please! - LOKI is the one show I have no clue about how it will go and that is super exciting - What If? Really glad the MCU is doing this and really exploring the Multiverse(which makes Into the Spiderverse canon now in my eyes, as well as the Marvel Gaming Universe) - Thor: Love and Thunder. One Word... YES! - Hawkeye is my most anticipated as he desperately needs the amount of love that he deserves. And the comics that they are using as source material are amazing as well - Great to see the Fantastic Four are coming, as well as Mutants being introduced, but the real kicker is MAHERSHALA ALI as BLADE! A real surprise, but a welcome one that comes in a close second for me behind Hawkeye. MCU is going Hard R baby!

I think Marvel made the right move, steering away from the expected sequels. This panel is definitely one of the more buzzworthy, and if the rumours about more of the 5-years plan to be revealed at D-23, I imagine they'll go more in-depth about - Black Panther 2 - Captain Marvel 2 - Guardians of the Galaxy 3(featuring Chris Hemsworth as Thor) - Spider-Man 3 - The Fantastic Four - One or Two New Mutants - Blade - Avengers 5

I have no prior knowledge of/ investment in the Eternals. But that was also the case for Guardians Of The Galaxy, and that kicked all kinds off ass. As have all of the space stuff in the MCU (excepting The Dark World). So I'm hopeful. Then again, IIRC, Guardians Vol 3 was supposed to set this group up, so I wonder what's going to suffer for the movies being swapped around by the whole James Gunn kerfuffle.
I will be very interested to see what Disney/Marvel does with or to THE Mandarin in order to court the Chinese film market/ get past the censors. Given prior steps they've taken to do that (swapping out the Ancient One's Tibetan background, adding extra scenes to Iron Man 3).
Doctor Strange 2 is the top of my list of what I want to see out of these announcements. Thor 4/ Lady Thor is a close, close second.
I've said this elsewhere, but I'd like to see Loki's show take some cues from Agent Of Asgard.
Did they confirm if Blade is going to TV or Movie?
My hope for the Fantastic Four is they set their origin story in the 60s. Pulling away from the Silver Age camp didnt do them any favors at Fox.
Here's hoping Kamala Kahn appears in Captain Marvel 2. Ms Marvel could easily take over for Spider-Man as the Avenger's Token Kid when Tom Holland's trilogy is over. But if I had my way, Sony would let Marvel keep borrowing Peter, and build a film series/ movie verse around Miles.
While I'm on a whishlist, I say let Wolverine lay low in a cabin somewhere. Give Gambit some much overdue spotlight, mon cher.

In the way many of the Phase 1-3 heroes and villains were tied somehow to either an Infinity Stone or Thanos.

Boy, I knew they were ending the Netflix Marvel shows but stealing Mahershala Ali, the main villain from first season Luke Cage to be the new Blade? Cold, Feige, cold. Amazing how those two Oscars can put you from Netflix villain to face of a franchise!

So 2022 has to be Guardian 3, Black Panther 2 and Captain Marvel 2. Then again why announce Blade now if it's not going to happen for four years.

Any more from him and it stops being one bad day for one tough, smart but ultimatley regular guy and becomes just....24.

From watching the announcement vid, it seems clear it was so Feige had something new that people weren't expecting to be announced. We knew the sequels, the Disney shows, Eternals and Shang Chi were coming, if not quite the exact details. Blade was a genuine surprise and unlike, say, Fantastic Four, they have their lead cast and ready to come on stage and he's a big name that would pop the crowd, in a franchise that even non-Marvel fans know from the Snipes films that kickstarted the Marvel films in the 90s.

The BBC makes 'em famous then they head off to Hollywood where the money is. (It still amazes me that Karen Gillan has been in five of the biggest films ever made. So far.)

Well, true in most cases but since we're talking about Richard Madden, it's kinda the reverse in this case - he'd been Robb Stark in Game Of Thrones and had been the Prince in Disney's big live-action Cinderella before he came to the BBC to do Bodyguard.

I'd hazard a guess that Guardians 3 may not be till 2023. James Gunn is doing The Suicide Squad first, and that's not scheduled for release till 2021. The only things in place for Guardians 3 right now are a rough script and the principal cast. I'm not sure a year from 2021 is sufficient time to polish the script, shoot everything, do reshoots, edit, do all the VFX shots, score it, and go through the promotion cycle. From that monster list of film release dates that Disney announced a few months ago, all the Marvel slots have been filled now except for the three in 2022 (Feb 18, May 6, and July 29). My speculation is that those three slots are BP2 and CM2 (like you), and Blade in the third slot. I'm very curious how they're going to manage Blade in this universe though. Disney shies away from most things more intense than a PG rating, and I don't know how you do Blade without a considerable amount of blood and violence.

Not a bad weekend for Feige, today Endgame officially overtook Avatar as the highest grossing film ever. Interestingly though, it's still quite a way off the top spot in the US - it's still number 2, but Force Awakens has done about 100mill more than it did, in the #1 spot stateside. Endgame is way down at #5 in the UK's all time listings - Force Awakens is top here as well but also ahead of Endgame are Skyfall, Spectre and Avatar. Bond still beats every Marvel over here! Time to buy out EON, Disney, and put Bond in SHIELD.

Was already excited for several of these announcements, especially Black Widow and whatever the future of the X-Men is, but the Blade announcement is really the show stopper for me since it seemed in limbo for so long. If Snipes is not returning to the role then I can't think of a more fantastic choice than Ali. He absolutely killed it on True Detective.
