A very satisfying third story and yet I remain spoiler free but to be honest each of these box sets have been excellent and this one is not exception. Now onto the final tale.......

For the people who have heard the set, am I able to listen to it out of order? I’m not as familiar with The Web of Time as I am with the other stories featured so want to wait until I’ve had time to rewatch it before I listen to the second episode, but I don’t want to wait for the rest.

Well that’s was a thoroughly entertaining set of stories and so good that am off to listen to the first one all over again as I have a sneaky feeling it’s my favourite of the lot but that. Can change after multiple listens to them. But the fact am already relisten it means they are very good tales

Downloading this now. Have been looking froward to this. I got the impression these River sets got better and better, and the last two were brilliant. Hope I can get stuck in later this evening!

I enjoyed An Unearthly Woman. It’s pleasantly mundane throughout, focusing on the guest characters and their interactions with River. I think it loses its way a little in the final 20 minutes or so, trying to balance the threat with the farce of River avoiding Ian & Barbara getting involved. It struggles with it, but it’s not bad by any means. I did think it was surprisingly Susan lite, but that’s good for two reasons: it maintains the early mystery of the character and I don’t really like Claudia Grant’s take. Like Jemma Powell, it leans too much on being an impersonation, rather than an interpretation, which is where David Bradley and Jamie Glover succeed. A couple of spoilery thoughts: The cover clearly hints at a cameo by the Doctor, but I like how it came from nowhere, just 20 minutes into the story. It’s a nice bit of interaction that doesn’t overstay its welcome, with a nice payoff at the end.
I liked the link to Ravenous. I’m not a big fan of the arc, but I think seeding it across Doctor Who history can only be a good thing, given its a Time Lord legend.

Got to say I love this tale and the threat when it comes totally surprised me.I am now a fan of theirs revamped team and i was a real naysayer when it was originally conceived. The threat is real and totally does cement the range for me.This is a threat to The Timelords that removed from its usual range just makes the range feel even better even more special. What i truly did like about these stories is how stand alone and in arc(ed) they were. But am going to give Matt Fitton the fave story of the set now.It was the one i immediately had to relisten to

Finished An Unearthly Woman. I agree with you all- this was great. I enjoyed it very much. It was pretty much in the style of The Caretaker, which I also liked. River is wonderful in this and I am happy how she has developed over the series. In the beginning, she often as a bit overacted, but now she really has found her feet. The story itself is well written and I love the villain who ties into the continuity. {Spoiler} So did I get it right? This was basically an eater of the light who got hired by the Ravenous? What a weird and fun idea. Plus it wonderfully ties into the continuity. I also liked the characters in there, especially Ian was great as a 60s gentleman. {Spoiler} I had expected the appearance of the Doctor, and they did it in the best possible way, it does not feel forced and I agree that it did not overstay it’s welcome. And it will satisfy those of us who had waited for the meeting between 1 and River. Another good thing were all the little hints and Easter eggs and fan-pleasing tidbits added in. In general, this all adds up to a very entertaining and enjoyable episode.

Just an observation- the credits. Is there a certain rule who reads them? So far they have hardly ever been read by the main hero actor, but this month this seems to have been shaken up and we had McGann read the credits in the Time War and now Alex Kingston here. Just wondering.
