Both together in a singular file is probably easiest. I find perusing stuff that I prefer it when authors use their synopses like a cover letter. For ease of access, flicking back and forth between the two, if nothing else. Same goes for the Paul Spragg Memorial Opportunity entries - always require two pages in a single document. Well that's probably why I didn't win that then lmao

Did anyone get a confirmation email when they submitted?

Great news, guys, we're definitely allowed to add page numbers and character lists to our submissions. Just a quick follow up. I don't think it matters too much if we place the character lists before or after the synopsis?

Well, that's my entry finally sent off, the first time I've ever not spent every available second of the deadline polishing and re-writing. I'm always afraid of killing all of that excitement you get when you first start writing. I don't think I'm seriously hurting my chances anyway. I must say though, that I think the 3,000 word script excerpt was a great format for a submission, and would welcome the chance for future competitions to use this format. Best of luck to everybody else!

Best of luck to everybody else! I really wish they could do another script competition, either akin to The Demons of Red Lodge and Other Stories MR half-hours or a boxset of 3-4 hour-long discs. Why not apply this to a future volume of The Tenth Doctor Adventures, consisting of only winners? I would definitely sign up for that!

Because they'll probably want to make sure they can trust the people who are writing for something as high profile as the 10DAs. Benny's a much more low-key series, so I can understand why they'd be prepared to take the risk with it. As for another anthology competition, that sounds far more probable.

Well, that's me submitted this afternoon too. Best of luck everyone!
NB. Did anyone receive a auto-confirmation email back on sending, like for previous comps? I haven't this time.)

Might as well try attempting a MR half-hour, using the submission guidelines from 2010. Not sure which Doctor or companion(s) at this stage. And by the way, which release is the "Hotel Verandah" scene from?

Good to know - there's always that slight doubt in the back of your head that the email server has simply eaten it and not sent it on!

I don't know if there's any plans, but I'd definitely like it if they decided to do a new "Doctor Who Unbound" set of stories, featuring all new Doctors and situations. It always seemed like a great idea that kind of got missed. Maybe a box set of four new stories, featuring four outlandish new Doctors would be a good candidate for an all new writers/fan submissions approach, allowing us all to show off our own unique take on Doctor Who.

Speaking of which, maybe next year's Opportunity should include the Unbound Doctor as an option (despite being from a different universe). We love him, don't we!

I don't know if there's any plans, but I'd definitely like it if they decided to do a new "Doctor Who Unbound" set of stories, featuring all new Doctors and situations. Nick has said in the past that the BBC have ruled this out. The argument was along the lines that there were too many Doctors being introduced. I imagine they don’t want the TV Doctors ‘diluted’ down. I wonder if they'd ever consider doing an "Unbound" series, featuring existing doctors, telling "What if" stories, that could go in weird new directions, totally outside continuity - thereby being true to the "unbound" name. I'd certainly buy it.

That way we could write for companions we'd love to hear like Destrii, more Mary, Sam and so one

I think the idea was first floated in the "Your odd/unpopular/controversial Who opinions/theories?" thread, but I'd be really interested to see someone's take on a Third Doctor who became domesticated on Earth. Really embedding himself in the day-to-day hoi polloi of the twentieth-century (or maybe a Fourth Doctor who was still exiled on Earth).

Working in a supermarket and getting plastered down at the pub with his mates? That sort of thing? Nahh, noone would ever do that to any Doctor...
I think the Unbound Third would think that 'our' Third had become domesticated - one small lab and a mug of tea instead of all of Space and Time!

Ohh, I think Three would be much more extravagant. During the winter months, he's down in his cottage tinkering, but in summer he's out in Monaco doing the grand prix. Every kid in '81 remembers the little Gordon robots that everyone got for Christmas, the ones with the complex sign language, he filed the patent.
