I don't think there is a thread on Adventure Gamebooks so I may as well start one.
I still have 1-20 ish (missing 3) of the FF series and the first 5 Lone Wolf books.
Oh to be 9 again eh?

There’s a horror movie called Alien? That’s really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you.

I got on board with the second FF book (Citadel of Chaos) and was instantly hooked and bought them religiously for the next couple of years: I even bought the magazine when it came out. I was a mad D & D fan back in the day so this was something to do on the other 6 days of the week (we weren’t in the right financial league for computer games back then). I tried a few other game systems (Lone Wolf, Proteus, etc) but none of them really matched up as well as FF for what I was looking for.

There was a shop here in Adelaide, (pre Games Workshop) . We all joined up around 1990 and got a fancy laminated card and everything LOL.. They held tournaments every weekend etc.. Fun times!

My middle kid was heavily into Warhammer for a few years and the whole culture of going into to the shop for painting lessons and tournaments was totally something that I’d have eaten up at a similar age. I knew of nothing to compare with it in Hobart in the 80s. There was a gaming subculture but I felt too inexperienced/ young to be a part of it and they were almost always in parts of town or at times that were difficult to manage. The books were a gateway for me and helped cultivate my inner nerd.

Quick question:
Did anyone get through Deathtrap Dungeon without cheating?
I never did.
