Wow. This man is a fighter - on top of standing up for the crew during the production, he had own battles:
You watch something like this early Blue Peter clip and it's even more amazing to see the extent of his strength and professionalism. Even though he'd been through a lot (and was still going through it), even though he knew he was already gone, he still worked hard to promote the show's return:
We were lucky to have him in the role. Wishing him all the best.

One of the few autobiographies I want to read. He has been remarkably honest on more than one occasion.

Yes, I'd like to read it as well. I have so much respect for this man, and it's wonderful that he has gotten help and is able to go public to help others. No wonder he hasn't come back to Doctor Who officially, however I do know that he has been great with the fans. I still hope that we will get to hear him eventually at BF, but it might take a while for him due to the memories and feelings the role might bring up for him. I wish him nothing but the best.

You know, now that you mention it, I actually do rather like Attack of the Cybermen ...

Interesting that it wasn't because of a refusal to return to Dr Who per se. Maybe gives some hope for BF?

Chris is still making column inches explaining why he declines to have much to do with Doctor Who, whilst the other actors who played the role and did a great job, have managed to move on and retain a healthy respect for the show and fans. Whilst Chris doesn't mind charging, what, £95 for an autograph (not bad for someone who never misses a chance to remind us he is working class), he continues to moan about the show at every opportunity, rubbishing the writing and people who worked on it during his time. If he wants to return for BF or anything else - great. If he doesn't - that's also great.

If he wants to return for BF or anything else - great. If he doesn't - that's also great. But he's not moaning about the show at every opportunity. He has written a book which, amongst other things, details his time & experiences of Dr Who. News outlets that are focused on the show are choosing to highlight specific details about his comments in respect of Dr Who. You seem to have an issue with him doing so, & for talking about his class. In an age where cuts to the arts have seen a very visible decline in new talent from a working class background, in an age where the working class are getting poorer I welcome his discussions on the issues.

I have so much respect for him. It seemed that he was treated terribly and was already in a bad way mentally and emotionally. Now that he's gotten well he seems to be able to test the waters of th Doctor Who community, and good for him.

It was just announced that Chris will be a guest at Gallifrey One. It seems he's throwing himself fully into, and embracing, Doctor Who fandom. Could BF be far behind?
