..and that's that I guess.
It is a shame, but if the market for the Rarities isn't there (I am assuming the decision has come down to sales) and the option for me to take a Monthly Range subscription to pick up the five or six missing subscriber bonuses from my wish list simply works out to be too expensive (a six month subscription to pick up The Doctor's First XI for example, with at least two of the six already purchased works out at £13.50 per unpurchased audiobook) ...then it really is a no brainer.
More's the pity. 🙁

I doubt that, aside from the great cover art, how much extra effort does it require? Just guessing but might be that it deincentivised subscriptions?

Might also be that they don't want to run out. They've already done over 1/3rd of them. Perhaps they're just resting it for a moment.

Well, they do have that 2 year minimum gap thing between release for subscribers and release as a rarity, so I'm not sure about that. They'd always have the 2 year old stock to release surely?

Perhaps they think selling the Rarities are hurting Main Range subscription sales.

I don't see why selling rarities would hurt subscription sales. They haven't sold them often enough or in enough quantity to have that kind of impact.
And if they don't sell Neptune as a rarity, I'll never be able to get it, as I am not going to buy a subscription to releases I already own just to get an SST.

Just a thought, I’m wondering if it’s this years batch of subscriber specials (or was it next years that were the short trips contest finalists?) that are the issue
The way I see it, you’ve got a guy who won the contest and doesn’t get paid, vs 4 people who didn’t win and will potentially have they’re stories sold and in turn making making money of those?
Just a theory.

I'm one of those 4. We were paid for our SSTs, and I'm sure we'd all happily see them get wide release. So I dunno if that's the issue!

Just a theory. Rarities have to be at least 2 years old under current policy so I doubt it. Well done on getting into the bonus releases 10thplanet!!!

Yeah I agree, and I think other exclusives could work just as well than actual in universe content locked behind that paywall imo. Scripts, art, behind the scenes bits etc etc...

Since 2016, 14 Subscribers and The Toy (originally part of The Complete History issue 4) have been released as Rarities. As 19 more, not counting 2018-2019, are currently in waiting, I believe they should be enough to fulfil the range for another 3-4 years.
£2.25 individually, £10 a bundle of 5, they are reasonable prices for anyone who can't afford the Main Range subscriptions. But I still am puzzled as to why there isn't any clarity on the prolonged delay. Maybe they'll post an update within the next few days or so.

No more Rarities planned for the time being. Nick answered a question in today’s Twitter sesh. It’s clarity as far as to what we can expect for the foreseeable future. No more Rarity releases. I did catch what Nick said, but I might have either misinterpreted or not read the full story, just so you know.
