Now this is what I call an exciting announcement! I figured we'd be getting Simm at some point since BF did some teasing recently, but didn't think we'd be hearing about it so soon! And MacQueen is back! Can't wait to get more details on this.

Oh my good god...I am so having this one! ππππππππππππ A 'Masterclass' in scene stealing awaits us in just over a year's time with Gatiss, Beevers, Gomez, Roberts, Jacobi, McQueen (!!) and Simm (!!!) vying for attention. As for Milo Parker..he is the young actor who played Gerald Durrell in The Durrells TV show fairly recently and according to t'Internet is about 17 years old. (for those not sure who he is, a link to a PBS showcase clip about the programme. He appears about 35 seconds in- m.youtube.com/watch?v=bxwDc66Gsco). Which means we're either getting a brand new teenage incarnation or we are getting Korschei just a few years after looking into the untempered schism. Either way January 2021 cannot come soon enough. Well played Big Finish. Bloody well played. π EDIT: So not sorry for the pun. π€ͺ

Are any BF staff here able to say or find out what is on the 5 discs exclusive to the deluxe version? Because I think it's reasonable to know before deciding which one to go for (especially since the physical copy of the deluxe version has a limited print run) and it seems a little shoddy to me that the news article doesn't say. Iβd really like to know this too...I own rather a lot of Big Finish, and if it turns out that the extra discs are single episodes of Master stories that I already own, the special edition wonβt really be worth it for someone like me.

Instant pre-order. This was pretty much the most awesome news of the day and totally a complete impulse buy from me. But I just LOVE the Master.

Well, that wasn't 80 bucks I planned on spending today but here we are.

Oh and super excited that James Goss is writing it. Of all the regular BF writers no one does does twisted yet still funny as well as Goss. I think he is the ideal writer for this.

Interesting stuff. Hopefully, Simm will be up for doing more of these and considering how positive he seems to be regarding Big Finish, I see that as a very real possibility in the future. Hearing that James Goss will be penning this is practically the icing on the cake. Who can forget the excellent and horrifying βThe Sky Manβ after all?

I already own the Short Trips, but I am also curious who narrates the audio book. Maybe they even get Katy to do it.

My initial interpretation is heβs a replacement for the late William Hughes, who played the young Master in The Sound of Drums. Which, if Dreyfus is indeed the first Master would seem to be the same thing anyway just as a younger man. I seem to remember BF did indeed say Dreyfus was the first but then subsequently seemed to play this down entirely. It was in the first press announcement - but it was something of a surprise to me as Iβd script edited the stories he was in, and that didnβt seem to be the case.

Quite disappointed that they are including one disc of previously available material. I'll have to think hard about what edition I will get.

Standard edition for me, and a very rare so far in advance preorder. CD version inc download as usual so I can sell it on if I donβt want to keep it long term.

A new audiobook, eh? That's tempting. I wonder if it will be available separately after a while?
Anyway, I'm quite excited for more Macqueen. And John Simm! That was unexpected. I must confess I really did not like his Master in his Tennant-era outings, but when he returned alongside Capaldi, I was very impressed. Here's hoping it's that version we're getting here.

Pretty sure they will sell the audiobook separately later.
And I am with you on Simm- I also found him utterly annoying during the 10th Doctor era, but he was great in series 10.
I think we are in for a real treat here.

I'm still undecided whether to get the limited edition or wait until it gets rereleased without the special features. Although it would go well with my Light at the End and Legacy of Time limited editions... It's definitely one I want to actually hold in my hands though.

Hmm. No interest in a 3/UNIT/Master audiobook, and I can do without the Short Trips on CD, but I would like the usual extras disc. I'd not like it enough to justify that price tag, though, so it'll be the standard for me.
Honestly, in a bit hesitant about all these "elements of Doctor Who cross over! That's the story!" releases. Then again, it's a pretty fantastic cast, between MacQueen, Jacobi, Roberts, and Gomez. (And Beevers and Simm are nice, too. Shame this Gatiss fellow is keeping Kisgart out of work. Recasts are such a drag).

As excited as I am for Simm, can I just take a sec here and say how completely and utterly jazzed I am that Alex Macqueen is finally back?!
It's been so long since we've heard his Master, or even heard anyone at Big Finish say much about him, that was worried there had been some kind of falling out and that he would never be back.
Rarely am I so pleased to be wrong. I cannot wait to hear his lunatic Master again!
