So... I've had a thought.
Back when I first listened to this set, IIRC I commented on finding the pairing of the Roberts and Beevers Master as a bit odd. Why those two? Only I've just been reminded of a potentially very pertinent fact: they're the same incarnation. Or, rather, the idea is that his incarnation of the Master is a parasite whose hosts eventually, inevitably degenerate into the Crispy Master we all know and love. This makes the Roberts' Master's actions an even -more- literal expression of self-hatred in Masterful, and also introduces an interesting level of ambiguity to the relationship between these two Masters: we don't necessarily know (unless I'm forgetting something) which incarnation of the Master precedes the other.
So this whole subplot could very easily be a hidden time loop: the Roberts' Master lashing out at the Beevers' Master's little slice of happiness, or at least contentment, as a form of retaliation against the person who stole the exact same from him, whether he was conscious of it or not.
Just... an interesting potential layer to this set, I think.

Finally, finally listened to this today. Nice to see I'm not the only one who was a little underwhelmed.
All the praise in the world for the Geoffrey Beevers section of the story, though.

So the Ending?
I loved the set as a whole but I'm a little unclear on the ending. Am I right in thinking the Master's final form consuming the assorted Masters created a paradox that then created a reset that cancelled out the events of the story?

So I'm finally listening to this and am about halfway through. So far I'm not sure what the point is.
After half an hour of the Masters being arch at each other, and me struggling to tell them apart, we now get them separated and half of them going through a variety of inexplicable situations where I neither know nor care what's going on. Beavers section in particular seems to be mostly him fishing. I assume the others will turn up at so e mm point, but so far it feels like this story only exists so we can hear more of each Master.

Have to agree. Yet another case of getting an impressive cast together, and building something out of their availability. Any actual story is a secondary consideration, sadly, and I barely recognised John Simm.

I finished this morning, and part 3 wasn't too bad, especially given how there was only ever one possible reset coming. We definitely didn't need part 2, it was all literally pointless, which Missy went ahead and pointed out in the finale. The low part of this episode though had to be McQueen using a lengthy scene if exposition to explain the ending of his side quest. Surely that could have been better written so we actually experience it.
Overall 5 out of 10. A nice idea with some good moments, but far too long and flabby
