The Yalnix Empire is a fragile alliance of a dozen systems, under constant attack from their ancient enemy, the Vad. With the Empress unable to trust any of her court she gives the job of growing the next Ruler of the Yalnix to an old friend - Captain Jack Harkness.
With hunters on the loose and a battlefleet in orbit, Cardiff’s suddenly became a dangerous place for a man to be pregnant.

Ooh. I'm way behind in my listening, but I may have to bump this one up to the front of the queue.

A surprising release all in all. It presents a far more vulnerable side of Jack and has some good moments between him and Ianto. The dark comedy parts work well too.
Also lol-keep listening after the behind the scenes interviews.

This was lighthearted and fun. Nice bit of action comedy, complete with humorous overacting. As was to be expected, it was slightly heavy on the pregnancy related tropes. At some point, the pregnancy jokes did get a bit much for me and I just wished they would get on with the plot, so that could have been tightened up a bit. Otherwise, good release.

As expected (pun, obviously), when Jack gets pregnant they really make the most of it, no trope is left unturned, no scene is underplayed!
That was a lot of fun, stuffed with food and monsters - but also moments of sadness for the losses TW suffered just before this story in the TV timeline.
But mostly this is an all-action story counting down to a deadline which even applies to the man fixed in Time. One day, the young Emperor of Yalnix will look at the family vidographs and say 'That's my surrogate dad? The one with the weevils and the dragon and the hot dogs? Wow, he's so cool!! How come I have to sit in this boring throne room, can't I go and do stuff like that?'
And he'll run off to be an action hero and the whole empire will fall apart and it will all be Jack's fault.
It's been a great TW year hasn't it? And up next oh its Martha!
EDIT: Next BUT ONE I meant of course... *grins weakly, awaits banishment by Queen Vic*

Queen Victoria is not amused that you've forgotten her.

Either John Barrowman is getting better at audio or he just needs to be given material that makes him deviate from his standard Captain Jack performance because he was the most enjoyable thing about this installment. Yes Expectant hits every pregnancy cliche hard, and sometimes hits them again for good measure, but it sure is fun. And the comedy bits allows the series to address some of the pain Jack & Ianto were dealing with after the deaths to Own & Tosh in a way that wasn't heavy-handed. Smart writing. Good monthly Torchwood.

Ooh, this was a bit silly, wasn't it. But I guess that had to do Jack pregnant at some point.
