Look, it is patently obvious to anyone that the War Chief IS the Master! How can you not see this?!?!?!? The really funny thing is that I have since decided that they are the same, despite having participating in the legendary arguments with You Know Who in the old days. And he'll never know! Probably for the best – I don't think I could handle the smugness. The Master isn't the Monk though. That's just crazy person talk. Has it really been five years? It doesn't feel that long. I can still remember when this place started up after the old forums were shut down. Five years! I was still in university. I could go outside without risking a plague. There wasn't a haze of smoke blocking out the sun when I look outside. I've really valued this forum. It's a nice, usually calm and reasonable place to discuss things. And call me old fashioned, but I still prefer forums to social media. There's just something about the sense of community, the sense that this is your place, that social media can't replicate. It's been a wonderful five years. Here's to at least five more! I think I might've found out where the idea might have originally stemmed from too. Long ago, in the 1980s (no, man, no... no one was alive back then!), FASA were releasing a series of Doctor Who RPG materials that you could DM with your friends. Dice thrown. TARDISes tumbled. Critical rolls, all that jazz. Some of the supplemental material there made the connection between the characters based on scraps of Target novelisations and bootleg videos. That said, it wasn't consistent within FASA either. In one book, one thing was true. In another, something completely different. They were equally contented to have it both ways. I'm still in the "depends on the day" camp. Edward Brayshaw's performance is good enough that I could buy the War Chief as a proto-Master or standalone character 1. He's terrific fun either way. (1 - I think, a while back, I had Keith Hamilton Cobb as Tyr Anasazi from Andromeda in mind for a "could've-been-done" War Chief incarnation.)

Ah congrats on five years. I do have distant memories of stumbling on the old Big Finish forum many years ago (I believe I read one of the infamous ‘Master=War Chief’ debates), possibly whilst search of Who timelines online. Didn’t consider joining till I began buying Big Finish properly, and by that time the forum was no more and this place was well-established. Certainly the most reasonable Who community I’ve found online.

Hello again.
So glad that this forum was created. Timelord007 gave me the heads up about its existence while exploring another forum. I love the humour and humanity of the members of this forum. Members are so supportive when we are going through difficult days. Debates about the finer points of canon are good-humoured and unlike Twitter, it is possible to discuss all sorts of topics without fear of aggressive personal attacks.
I like how the forum has grown to discuss all manner of topics and members have brought their own interests to the forum. With 2021 being another TVWho free year, it will be the forum and my Big Finish collection that will keep me sane. I also appreciate the contribution that creatives involved with Big Finish make to the forum. So, long may our Divergent Universe continue to be the fun, safe, interesting and welcoming place that it is.
