I found three original VMAs today. I've never seen an original one in person before, only reprints, so I grabbed them the moment I saw them. I got The Eye of the Giant, Speed of Flight, and Burning Heart. No idea if any of them are any good, but at AU$4.50 each I wasn't going to complain (and they are a little weather-beaten, so the price was pretty reasonable). I've been looking in secondhand places for over a decade and never seen any of these, so trust three to all turn up at once Whoa... AU$4.50 each, how? Hypnosis? Android duplicates? Teach me your ways. I've fond memories of Speed of Flight. It's one of Paul Leonard's most alien worlds, after his take on ancient Venus, and there's this quite lovely dedication in the front:

Teach me your ways. I've fond memories of Speed of Flight. It's one of Paul Leonard's most alien worlds, after his take on ancient Venus, and there's this quite lovely dedication in the front: Like I say, they are fairly battered. Two have two creases on their spines and the third has three. All three are heavy scuffed on spine and covers, one cover is somewhat bent in the corner, and all the pages have yellowed. I found them in an ordinary secondhand bookshop rather than on online retailer too, so the owner probably didn't know they were likely worth more than that (The effort to find the average value of every book in a secondhand store would be much too difficult to do with the number of books in there... I'm amazed I found the three that I did!) I haven't read the forward, nor have I read any of Paul's other works, though I think that's a very fitting tribute to the great man that was Jon Pertwee.

I didn’t buy them myself but my mom got me super cozy looking TARDIS one piece hooded pajamas for Christmas that will be perfect for cozy Doctor Who watching and listening as well as a New Years Eve Pajama Party I am going to😊😴🎇
My mom also got me 12th Doctor Socks which my mom thought were 1st Doctor socks and on the to and from label had written “from some old dude”( in my family instead of doing straight forward to and from tags we always write elaborate riddles, puns, and illusions relating to whatever the present is), which I said the tag fit perfectly because in the Magician’s Apprentice, he introduces the word “dude” several hundred years ahead of time😄😉
She also got me a 12th Doctor and sonic screwdriver Christmas ornament, which I put right next to my 13 and Dalek ornaments on the tree🎄 😃
My boyfriend got me an 11th Doctor TARDIS journal, a Doctor Who Mad libs, and a book on the history of Time Lord culture 😃

I pre- ordered Series 12 on iTunes. Personal present for myself. I just live in the hope there won‘t be as much pre-order chaos like there was last year.

Tickets for the German Who convention went on sale today. Of course I treated myself to tickets! Was the best weekend of 2019. Even if we do not know yet which actors are coming, it will be a blast. Cannot wait. Sadly, have to wait now till October...

In yet another in a long line of Zoom early arrivals...The Matt Smith Series 5 steelbook turned up today. I was going to take a "good" pic of it in decent light but then I noticed when it's a bit dark, as the room was I was leaving the sonic kinda glows. Really nice! Gorgeous wrap round faux-Van Gogh design, and a flyer for Sophie's new book in it

Caved in and got the audio book for Sophie Aldred's At Childhood's End. People seem to be quite happy with it looking at the reviews. And it sounds promising.

Picked up the Season 26 Blu-ray and pre-ordered The Faceless Ones on DVD. I'm not ashamed to admit that I get really excited when I receive the text saying the new Classic Series Blu-ray is in. I remember ordering The Invasion DVD from the local Angus and Robertson's (there's a blast from the past of our Aussie forumites) when I was about 7. It took something like six-seven weeks for it to arrive and they didn't do texts back in those days to say your order had turned up, so we made a trip into town once a week (usually a Friday when we'd go to the library to borrow some books and maybe a Doctor Who VHS if we'd been good) to see whether they had it. Each week there was this internal thrill of whether or not it would be there, and I can still remember the joy I felt when it finally arrived. I get a similar feeling picking up these Blu-rays. There's no point in being grown up if you can't be childish sometimes, and I get one of these once every 3-4 months so I think that's acceptable

Such excitement and I'm right with you on the blu-ray sets, it's just like the old days because we never know quite when they're going to turn up do we?
Even with emails telling us the release date. And the updated release date. And the next updated release date... It all adds to the fun!

Doctor Who: The Complete Twelfth Series DVD or Blu-ray Special Features: - 10 x Closer Look behind-the-scenes documentaries
- 3 audio commentaries
- 'What to Expect in Series 12' preview
Some questions that I have: Has it been officially announced that this set will include the New Year's Doctor Who special - Resolution? The Region 1 sets have 3 discs and the Region 2 sets have 5 discs included. Will the DVD or Blu-ray 3-disc sets display a video experience of inferior quality when compared to the UK sets? Or/and, perhaps the Region 1 sets have omitted the special features?
