I wonder if non-Who fans get as irritated by all the Who pushes as I'm getting by all the ones for this.
If people want it they'll by it
If people think its too expensive it'll still be too expensive no matter many times they see the packshot.
If people don't like the fact that its a reimagined version its still going to be a reimagined version

I can't decide whether they are pushing like mad because the take up hasn't been very good ... or because it's Nick's baby. Either way I want to be excited by it, but I'm just not. Cheers Tony

I'm looking to buy this set, but probably like most people in the same boat the £40 price tag is a bit of a put off.
I have no doubts it will be an excellent listen, but my bank balance has a few doubts leading up to Christmas.
I'll probably pre-order in January...if I can afford it.

I've preordered it today, duped entirely by it being limited to 3000 copies and not wanting to risk losing out.
If this thread is reflective of broader levels of disinterest and/or dislike of the price tag perhaps there was no such risk and I can look forward to receiving number 0001/3000!

Pretty sure Nick Briggs will still take #1

On the other hand this probably is Big Finish's last card to put on the table pertaining to The Prisoner: Volume 1. So consequently, I can't begrudge them for providing their website direct customers with some extra value incentives. As a young child, I remember my mother (who was the influence that got me into Doctor Who) telling a friend that she did not like The Prisoner TV series either. That must have been a good 35 years ago! We shall see how I fair in my first exposure with 'Number Six" when listening to Big Finish's version of him.

Thanks Mark, that's sweet of you to say that. I'm taking my mother to see the new Star Wars movie on Christmas morning, and I'll ask her during the drive, WHY she didn't like the TV series of The Prisoner. I'm guessing maybe it was too weird or psychedelic for her? Whatever it was that both of you did not enjoy about The Prisoner; I hope Big Finish will smooth it out.

I loved The Prisoner, as I said elsewhere, but not sure I'm willing to spring for the audio stories.

Have to say I can't fault the packaging but it's the stories for the price point I'm rather put off by. Brand new stories and it would have been a must buy even at that price. The reimaginings just don't interest me at that price. If it was about £25 like avengers series 5 I would have bit but it's not. I'm sure it's going to be a quality product for the price you are getting and you are getting a fair whack for it but it doesn't feel like it's worth the money for essentially 4 remakes at £40. My lack of enthusiasm probably isn't helped by the fact there is a couple of other box sets out that month that are more highly anticipated and far cheaper. I was on the fence earlier but with other non big finish things to save up for in the next few months I can see it being a skip. It's a shame as I love the original tv show.

I have no interest in this product. How many people are still on the fence regarding this release?

I have no interest in this product. How many people are still on the fence regarding this release? I was but ive too much other financial things to worry about in January so its pretty much a skip. Part of me wants to buy it to help it be successful so they end up doing original things when the well of episodes run out but I'm just not interested at paying £40 for 4 remakes. 20 -25 yeah. 40. Nope

Question: is the 40 a pre-order price or final?

If this ends up being the universal purchase attitude (not judging), I guess we won't be seeing Number Six ever leaving the Village during Big Finish's kick at the can of it.

Question: is the 40 a pre-order price or final? Pre-order price for the CD. And the download price is only 5 less.

Question: is the 40 a pre-order price or final? Pre-order price for the CD. And the download price is only 5 less. ...so it's going up even more after release? There needs to be a regular release of this set.

I would assume the price is going up after release. It doesn't always, but that's usually with the lower-priced items, as far as I've seen. Most items go up at least a little after release.
