Absolutely loved this. The new material that Johnathan Banks inserts feels completely seamless and enhances the story, giving it a unique feel so that it's not just the umpteenth version of Dracula that you've heard/read/seen, but actually has a freshness to it. Great performances, especially from Gatiss and Deirdre Mullins as Mina. There are also some shrewd creative choices here. The scene where Mina is reading the log book of the captain of the Demeter has some wonderful tension to it thanks to the choice of having Mina and the Captain alternate reading entries from the log, creating a breathless, fast paced scene that conveys the terror the crew was feeling while still preserving the epistolary nature of the novel.

That is a really smart take on the character. Am torn between Bf and the Naxos one. With Brian Cox and Heathcote Williams and have to say heathcotes Dracula Cox as Van Helsing and Dermot Kerrigan as Jonathan edges to the winning post. But Both are Brilliant just feel Naxos one with Jonathans journey through the Carpathians is superior

I think it's an odd fact that I probably enjoy suspense more than horror (although I seem to have a bit of a thing for cobwebs and creaky stairs and hinges). Hence I'm not the biggest Dracula fan, but I wouldn't mind a complete set of Big Finish Classics and it's probably not upstanding of me to expect to pick it up for less than half off, so in the cart it went.
Who knows, maybe we'll get a proper dark and stormy night between now and Halloween and it will turn out to be just the thing to listen to.

Its actually is more suspenseful then it is straight up Horror IMO.

I've had this for a while, but haven't got around to listening to it yet. Having watched some of the classic Universal Monsters and Hammer Horror films yesterday, I'm in the mood for some audio horror so will give this a listen tonight.

Certainly!
This is an unexpected treat. I had no idea this was going to happen, but I'm very glad it is. Jonathan Barnes is a great writer and while his work here would indicate no more Sherlock for a while, I cannot wait to see what he brings to this. I've noticed Bram Stoker's original story was called Dracula's Guest (singular, and performed so beautifully by Peter Guinness on Textbook Stuff's audio). So I assume Dracula's Guests will have a bigger cast!
Nice to see these joining the ranks of the BF Classics, right next to - ooh look - Jekyll and Hyde! Nice to see that still listed.
All pre-ordered, naturally.

Maybe Briggs has been extremely crafty with ‘Jekyll and Hyde’s delay and ‘Dracula’s War’ is the tale of the Count coming into conflict with the good Doctor Jekyll! In all seriousness, I greatly enjoyed their take on ‘Dracula’ and I am extremely pleased there is more to come.

Well, we knew something probably Dracula related with Gatiss was coming and the timing makes this even less of a surprise. Still, no surprise it is still excellent news and warranted an instant pre-order from me.
