Thought a dedicated thread to such a fantastic project might be worthwhile. The first wave of cast announcements for Act II has been shared alongside the release date of September 22nd, 2021! Bill Nighy as Odin and David Tennant as Loki are my favourite new additions, and I can't wait to hear more McEvoy as Dream and Micheal Sheen as Lucifer! Other guest stars include Rege-Jean Page, Brian Cox, John Lithgow, and Kevin Smith!

Man, I still have to listen to the first series of The Sandman.
Although, from the look of this terrific cast for the second series I’m tempted to bump it to the top of my listening list.

The casting for this series is flawless. Every actor is absolutely perfect for the part and they've got some really talented people. (And on a Big Finish/Doctor Who note, in addition to David Tennant, I can see Louise Jameson's name in the extended cast list!)

Yep, I must admit as much as I am excited for the Netflix adaptation, this might end up the definitive version for me. McEvoy is perfect as the lead, and having such an assortment of wonderful actors in so many roles is just the cherry on top of an epic audio adaptation!

In some ways, I think this very accurate adaptation makes it easier for the Netflix adaptation to be a bit looser. We already know they've updated the time period, for example, while the Audible series keeps the setting of the comics. One version that has adapts the comics almost exactly as they are (John Constantine, Martian Manhunter, etc) and another that's free to reinvent things.

I still have a plethora of books to work through on Audible and stopped the monthly payments as a result last year, but the Sandman Act II coming way sooner than I imagined might just be the tipping point to me signing back up again.
That is some cast list.

Okay, you had me at Miriam Margoyles for Despair and literally any mention of an adaptation of A Game of You (Kevin McNally set to guide Barb through the cuckoo's nest).

Continuing the tradition of David Tennant being the busy actor in the history of acting LOLZ

Book 1 (ten hours or so) is available at present free to Audible subscribers, although they don't seem to want to let you actually download a copy to listen at one's own convenience.

It's an incredible cast isn't it? For the most part, but I HATE Kat Denning's Death. Really loathe it. It's the opposite of how Death has always been in my head. I don't think she has the audio experience or range to pull off the best, most intricate and interesting character in the series. As much as I like this release, Sandman will always be a comic for me. It's one of those pieces of art that is a much about the medium it was created in as it is the story itself. I listened to this with the comics opened in front of me in order to appreciate it fully. This is why I'm not so excited about the film being produced. 1) I don't feel like I need it because the original is just so perfect and 2) I don't have faith that what makes it the great piece of art that it is will translate to another medium, no matter who makes it. (This is also how I feel about Dune, but I'm hoping to be proven wrong with that upcoming film.) That being said, you know that I will be listening to the next volume expectantly, with comics open on my lap, loving it. (Except for Kat Dennings)

Act III dropped today in a surprise release Bloody hell, they certainly kept that quiet! About a month ago Neil Gaiman tweeted for people to save a credit. And yesterday there was a teaser but I’m surprised it was just an immediate release. I’m about two hours in and am loving it

I’m about two hours in and am loving it I’ve still yet to listen to the second volume so it’ll be a while until I get to this instalment. Must admit I always envisaged Brian Blessed in the role of Destruction though.

Surely audible must have green lit act 4 to finish everything off, any one know if there has been news of that?
