And in amongst all her many accomplishments, Beryl was one of the founders of the Doctor Who Expanded Universe (especially the non-DW character-based spinoffs like Lethbridge-Stewart) - she told Terry Nation to retain the rights to the Daleks which set the precedent for other authors to do the same... and the rest is history!

More "in rememberance" but on this day in 1980, AC/DC lead singer Bon Scott died, aged just 33. He was born in Scotland and spent the first 6 years of his life in Kirriemuir, Angus. This amazing statue of him was unveiled in his home town in 2016. The small town is also the birthplace of Peter Pan creator JM Barrie. For a wee town to have birthed 2 immortals is quite somethin.

There’s a horror movie called Alien? That’s really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you.

Just goes to show how small the world is.. He officially met the Young brothers in the suburb I grew up in! A hotel that is still around with live bands/concerts.. "The Bridgeway Hotel" in Pooraka, Adelaide, South Australia.. It was walking distance from my house growing up.. Bon spent a few years living in the Adelaide Hills, living a bit of a hippie/bohemian life before the formation of the mighty Akka Dakka.

And Malcom and Angus were born and lived here till they were 10 and 8 respectively. So a lot of connections, and why they wore the Scotland football top on tour, and they recorded the classic If You Want Blood live album in Glasgow in 78.

I'm pleased Katy and Stewart did the Blu-ray extras for Seasons 8 and 10 together. Tim

Mark Lanegan, lead singer of Screaming Trees and my vote for sexiest voice of 90's rock, died at the age of 57. I always thought he should have been more famous than he was.
Back in the day my then boyfriend (soon to be my husband, and then my ex) went to see the Trees open for Oasis. They put on a fantastic set, and we walked out when Oasis started. Good times.

RIP Henry Lincoln, according to scifibulletin the last living writer from the B&W era of the show.
Would be interesting to learn how all the rights to the stuff he co-created with Mervyn Haisman ended up solely with the Haisman Estate
Am I right in saying Chris Boucher is now the last living pre-JNT era writer for the show?

RIP Veronica Carlson, probably best known for her roles in Hammer Dracula and Frankenstein films. Also, she starred in 1975's 'The Ghoul' from Tyburn, where she played the partner of the late Stewart Bevan. She was lovely and will be really missed.

Oh yes.. I had the pleasure of seeing him bowl a few times..
Shared the same name as me.. Absolutely legend, that infamous bowl of Gooch I can watch over and over.
There will be a State funeral absolutely.
