Have you tried installing a downloader app (and maybe a file manager app to extract the zip)? Not as efficient as the BF app but still better than from a PC.

Honestly it does matter to me I don't like to install something I am not sure of onto my phone.
But I don't think it really matters I just realized if it's like other supplementary material on Big Finish's site I probably can listen without downloading. When you hit play it pops up as an embedded audio file. It's not ideal because you can't save your spot or rewind scenes but it's better than nothing.

Just a question guys do you want individual threads for each story? Normally we wouldn't do this but as these are coming out weekly I thought it may be easier for people who may decide to wait for the entire box set to come out to avoid spoilers. Thoughts?

If you want to continue the group listen-thru then separate threads for each story would make sense (I try to avoid spoilers of things I haven't heard yet anyway so I can cope either way) . Cheers Tony

Cheers Tony Hmm not specifically asking in regards to a group listen. The episodes from the last box set will be coming out in weekly installments starting this upcoming Monday. I figure some people will be listening weekly but others may wait until the whole box set is released. It may be easier to avoid spoilers with separate threads for each story. And I wouldn't want anyone to be spoiled for the final series.

Most other boxsets are set up as a single thread and those contain spoilers for all stories. I guess most people avoid reading until they have listened to everything. Unfortunately I can't keep away from them (even if I've not listened yet), but that's personal preference. This is different in that it is (kind of) a serial so separate threads might be better . Cheers Tony

Well everyone kind of listens together when something new is released so there is no need to start a group listen. All new releases are group listens in that way. I will create individual threads I want to make it as easy to avoid spoilers as possible. And though we usually only have one release per boxset most boxsets aren't released in this fashion. I am not even sure if I will be listening weekly. I will if I can stream from my phone like I can with most supplementary material but if I have to download onto my computer first I may wait until the whole thing is out.

I can't help but be confused why Scott decided to do four one hour episodes. I'd have much rather seen a long walk down memory lane with 7 half hour stories and a full hour finale like Terrahawks had. Can we get some light on this decision?

If they were going to do the format you are saying it would have been 6 1/2 hour stories with the last story being an hour. Anyways I can't speak for why something was decided but with hr stories you will get less stories true but more time to develop the story & characters in each individual story. And I personally am very happy with the writing team chosen for the final box set. The returning writers all wrote some of my absolute favorite stories of the range and Guy Adams who hasn't written for Dorian before did some amazing work for Torchwood. I guess one writer I would have really loved to see another story from is Nev Fountain but I am still absolutely thrilled with what we are getting.

Oh absolutely, I'm very excited for the final series and I can't wait, I just think the half hour works much better for the series format but I can't shake the weird feeling of going from 1888 to 1915 to 1848 and then jumping all the way to 2016 and I feel like there could have been some stories with other really fun characters that Dorian has encountered, since that seems to be a theme here.

Honestly, the reason is that, every time we come back, we try to do something different with the format. In effect, each series is already a trip down Dorian's memory lane, as it were, so repeating the same structure for the final run would have just been business as usual.
Also, I wanted these stories to be narrated not by Dorian, but by the guest characters - those lives touched by Dorian. To do that justice and get under their skin, you need a longer run time to really appreciate the effect that such a character can have on people, and why he became an important person in their lives.
Plus, I'd rather tell four really strong hour-long stories than eight potentially less-good half hours struggling to fit everything in.
