I am mostly a download customer. And I think I'm leaning toward download on this, if I decide to get it at all. I can't justify spending that much money for the physical item. Ela, I've also been debating this due to the price alone. I definitely won't be getting the CD, but I think I'm going to go for the download. If the second set was going to be as expensive, I wouldn't even bother. But the reviews have been so great that I really want to give it a try.

Books especially. For the Benny books I'd actually pay more in postage than I would the product itself. When they did the Sale, I paid more in postage than the books. Despite that fact, the international postage costs applied to Big Finish's Benny and Blake's 7 books are competitively low. It also shouldn't be forgotten that the majority of those books are *heavily* discounted from their original prices. I would rather buy a Benny book from BigFinish.com for £3 + £4 shipping and happily accept that I paid more for the postage. Rather than purchasing Filthy Lucre (for example) from Galaxy 4 for £14.99 + £10.50 shipping to only justify that I paid more for the actual book! Where it could be looked at is with these more expensive deluxe sets (The Prisoner) that are obviously more expensive than the street prices of Amazon and the Book Depository. Could it be afforded by Big Finish to wave the £4 international postage fee? Especially, when these premium products (e.g. Philip Hinchcliffe Presents) are being loyally bought months in advance!!!

I think I've decided, having bought the physical item, that it was worth it. I always like the BF delux book form and this set is as good as any of the others. Having listened to the stories now, I've been really impressed by them in both their faithfulness to the series and having a few different slants to the stories. I also enjoyed the completely new story and would like those to continue.
Although the set isn't cheap, I'm now feeling a bit disappointed that next year's release will be in the jewel case rather than in the delux book form. Although £40 is expensive, perhaps if it's just once a year I can justify it . Please note BF – I enjoyed the first release so much but I'd like to see a couple of releases a year!

As you have to pay a lot for shipping and the download is more reasonable for you (owing to the "odd" BF exchange rate), you would probably be better off with the download. The physical boxset is stunning, but if you are not bothered about the book and the "limited" factor you really are not missing out with going download only. In fact bizarrely you probably miss out more by buying the set from another retailer as BF's download comes with additional interviews and full music score from the episodes.
Being mainly a download customer myself and knowing what I know now - if the download had been cheaper I would definitely have bought the download. While I really like the design of the limited package, it's the digital content that interests me. The only reason I am not selling my limited box is because BF have been sensible with the pricing of volume 2 (I will be ordering the download).
Cheers
Tony

Matching deluxe CD booklet sets would have been nice. However, if the continuation of The Prisoner is going to go long and/or become more frequently issued then the change over to a more economic physical packaging design is probably for the best that Big Finish does it after the first grand release. The (£25 pre-order) 5 disc The Third Doctor Adventures: Volume 1 and Terrahawks: Volume 1 compact jewel case housings with booklet inserts are ideal in my mind's eye.

I wasnt going to buy the physical copy - but someone on ebay was selling ltd edition number "206" so how could I resist? For those who have not hears it - the release is one of the very best from Big Finish in the last few years - my review is here www.planetmondas.com/2016/01/10/review-prisoner-volume-01/ The "reimaginings" of the TV episodes are very different and the original "Your Beautiful Village" is up there with Free For All, Living In Harmony & Fall Out as classic Prisoner episodes go.

I changed my vote and bought the download, and I'm very glad I did. it's amazing. The quality and length of this release is actually worth the price, believe it or not.

After listening to the free extract, I'm actually less interested than I was.

I'm not that put off by the price but I haven't bought this yet just because I'm working hard on my DW collection at the minute so there's the occasional thing I'm forced to skip for the time being, and because I want to revisit the TV series and sort out my memories and feelings about the story in general - I seem to recall being incredibly intrigued with the mystery of Number One but I also seem to remember eventually deciding I was never going to find out and being terribly disillusioned, lol. Still a good chance I'll want to pick up this and The Avengers releases well before the year is out, I imagine.

I watched the original show and loved it but I'm finding I'm not really interested in investing money in the audio production right now. I have other Big Finish I want more.

After listening to the free extract, I'm actually less interested than I was. Have to admit, I found the free extract lessened my interest in the final product. It wasn't a bad preview, just... kind of bland. It didn't grab my interest. I'm a big fan of the original series, usually watch the whole run once a year. That said, I'm not against a reimagining, especially from Big Finish. But in truth it's just too pricey, way too much for me in January (which used to be the busy season for my job, but the schedule base has changed). At this point, I have enough on my 'to buy' list (Dorian Gray, Jago & Litefoot, Pathfinder, Counter Measures, The Scarifyers, the last dozen DW Main Range titles I don't have... among other things) to be ready to add another to my already slim budget. Maybe later, when I'm more caught up and in need of something new. And considering the cost, there's slim-to-no chance I'll be ordering a physical copy (American here, rarely able to justify the cost for physical media).
I'll give it a pass for now. But I may change my mind later on down the road.
