It’ll be very interesting to see how this set turns out. Three strong writers there, but I thought the preceding two sets were a mess. What appeals more is that we’re back to the Doctor & Mel, more than the disappearance of Hebe and the resolution of the clunky cliffhanger from Purity Undreamed. And I’m not sure that should be the right take.

It's disappointing to notice how the previous two sets have killed off my interest in the 6DAs. Never thought that would be possible. Hang on though - Matthew Sweet??!

The resolution to this is what intrigues me as I agree so far its been messy also surprised the pervious set didn't start a wider discussion on the themes (maybe that's comment in itself). No Writer carry over either.

The last two box sets have been the worst ever written for the 6th Doctor IMO and some of BF's worse as a whole and as such I have very low hopes for this release. I find myself hoping they never get Hebe back despite her character being a whole lot more bearable in Undreamed than Water Worlds, not that that is saying much.
This is very much old sixie's last chance before I drop him from my purchase list.

Hmm. First off- I agree that the previous 2 sets were very average. They were not exactly bad, but they were a bit bland and uninspired. Come to think about it, I can also include the first Sixie and Peri boxset in this assessment. I did however like Hebe very much and a couple of stories were good in my book, I especially liked the very first one with the not-so-often-seen resolution / villain and the claustrophobic atmosphere. Calling the previous sets the worst stories for Sixie with Big Finish? Nah. Cannot agree there. Think of Pier Pressure. Or the two episodes traveling with Jago and Litefoot. In my book, they are worse (especially since I expected more of the travels with J&L). Now, for this new set: Writing Team sounds promising. I also had a laugh when I saw that the first story features Broadway? Awesome meta- joke for Bonnie Langford. Also, the idea behind the new set also sounds very interesting: "Disabled people are effectively erased from society every day and those complicit in it don't consider themselves villains. They may even think they're doing good." And Rayner promises: “Some of our best writers have pulled out all the stops to tell amazing, funny and tragic stories in Purity Unleashed and the loss of Hebe underpins it all.”
I think this could actually work! At least I still have hope- from now on, the Sixie stories can only get better?

Although I have not purchased any Sixth Doctor stories since they killed the MR ... so maybe I have done well to avoid the 6DA box sets?

The Eleven is fine (if you like The Eleven) but Water Worlds, Purity Undreamed form an Arc that's so far is some of BFs messiest productions still tider than the Unbound Doctor of War perhaps Regards mark687

Yeah, I can't say I was bowled over by The Eleven or Mind of the Hodiac either. The 6th has been heading in a steadily downward trajectory which is such a shame as he used to be my no. 2 BF Doctor.

Depends. I do not think the two 2022 Sixie sets were as bad as painted here. But they were the embodiment of average. And a bit bland. Which is a shame, since the new companion, Hebe, is great.
Hopefully the 2023 sets will be better, than you could just get the condensed plot version from us here and just dive straight into the new sets, ignoring the 2022 ones.
And I agree, Mind of the Hodiac was dire. But is was one of the first scripts by RTD and at a guess more of a publishing "gimmick" by BF advertised as "RTD writes for BF!" instead of saying "look what RTD found discarded in his drawer". One thing I can say- the two 2022 Sixie sets were better than Mind of the Hodiac. But that was not a difficult thing to achieve.

Yeah, as much as I love Sixie, after the two recent sets I’m in no rush to get this one.

I actually liked The Doctor of War sets better than the two 6DAs and Mind of the Hodiac. And for the the Six and Peri set they released the year before are some of the worst Sixth Doctor stories that I've heard. In fact, the only Six release in almost 2 years that I've loved is Wink. That one has saved the Sixth Doctor for me lately.
I've said it before, I don't think Jac Raynor is a good producer. At least she hasn't been with these Sixth Doctor sets. It pains me to say that because she has written stories that I love. But her in charge of Sixie has not gone well.

So, let me make an early prediction here. I presume the villain of the last set will end up teaming up with the likes of Sir Francis Galton or the Nazi Party at some point to achieve her goal?

I know I seem to have gotten a bit more out of the first two sets, so I look forward to this, though I am intrigued how the Broadway episode turns out both on its own and as a follow up on the last set’s cliffhanger.

I didn't care much for the previous two sets. Waterworlds I found immensely frustrating. Purity Undreamed was a bit better, but not at the level I would like by any means. I'd love some fun adventures with Mel and Sixie, that's an easy sell for me, but those sets were not a great start to the Sixth Doctor Adventures range. Hopefully, this upcoming set is better. There's a lot of Big Finish I want to listen to, but a range that is pitching stories that are frustrating me this much becomes a candidate for cuts no matter how much I love Mel and Six.
