It didn't even occur to me they'd use the 9th-11th Doc themes Amazing to hear Murray Gold's stuff on a Big Finish release.

GREAT to hear Derek Riddell in this He was great as Blake in Rebellion Reborn, it's always bugged me he's never worked with BF before. I had no idea he was going to be in this (I try and avoid cast lists to get wee surprises like this)

If done in narration style, it'll probably be Ian McNiece doing Nine's voice. Cheers Tony It is - Ian talks about having to learn how to do approximations of Chris, David and Matt in the preview of the set in this months DWM. Crikey...Ian could have done working on his northern accent for a while. I *get* that in universe it's Chruchill doing the impression, not Ian but the accent goes from Churchill's own to Yorkshire and back again, often in one sentence Doesn't get near Salford, Manchester or even Lancashire at any point!

Hmmm. The Oncoming Storm was a decent story which fell a bit short of being anything more than that. A bit of poignancy at the end with Winnie doubting himself that was quite touching. Ian's a strong presence though. He really grabs the dialogue by the lapels and if he's a far too idealistic, oversimplified version of the "real" Churchill, he's a damn good "Whoniverse" version.

I haven't listened to a word of the story yet, but just listening to that theme on audio makes me very happy.

I guess I just expected a new theme if this is to be its own range but using the Who themes really makes it clear these are pretty much Companion Chronicles by any other name (albeit in the Early Adventures, fuller cast style)

I'm on the fence whether to get this or not...

Hearing Ian's awful attempts at a Mancunian accent for the first story becomes all the more odd since he doesn't seem to be trying to do any accent at all half the time for the second one with the 10th Doctor. Sometimes a bit of cockney comes in, I guess! I don't think Ian is a great loss to the cast of Dead Ringers

I saw Ian at a con talking about this release and he made fun of his attempts at the Doctor's voices. So yeah I wouldn't expect much in that area.

Being a Lancastrian, I completely agree with this lol Cheers Tony EDIT: This is no slight on Ian's acting though, I'm enjoying part one tremendously

Kasran is very excited to meet Churchill and seems to know much of Earth history, including the Roman Empire. I got the impression - probably wrongly - that the planet he's on in A Christmas Carol was quite disconnected from Earth. He talks about Christmas (when he's Michael Gambon) as though it's an ancient mythical thing but here talks about Churchill and Julius Ceaser like they learn about them in school. Feels as though Justin Richards just threw away the fact Kasran is alien and wrote a pretty generic future companion seeing the past.
One thing I ADORE though is Chruchill seeing the Dalek in the past and exclaiming "An Ironside!". I think I'd rather have Bill Patterson as Bracewell instead of Danny Horn as Kasran here.

I had the feeling Kasran was human, from the far future, on an established earth colony. (But can be wrong.)

Currently in the middle of this and finding it the weakest EP ,so far overall though I.m finding the Boxset a 7/10.
