tuigirl, It's also highly recommended from me at the very least. One of the funniest Doctor Who stories around, and the narration is done in character by The Monk.

Finally finished this. It was….fun. Everyone is on fine form, especially Tom and Ingrid Oliver. It is a shame that no one has stepped up and made Osgood a proper companion for a box set or three because her character works like a charm in the TARDIS. I like Robert Valentine’s writing quite a lot but this opener felt a little slight to me. I listened to the first half a week or so ago and had to go back and relisten to the first 5 minutes to remind myself of the set-up. I think there was more that could have been done with Sarah Jane and the 4. Anyway, maybe I just need to lower my expectations of the series.

My special edition cd has arrived. The 8 page booklet is a square that's been folded cleverly, and this bit as describedin the FAQ:
The special edition cover artwork by Lee Johnson, featuring a foil-embossed logo
No it doesn't. It's not foil embossed at all. Yet again, I feel a bit conned by Big Finish.

I saw your comment about the foil-embossed logo earlier when I wasn’t logged in so could not comment. When I went to the FAQ there was no mention of the foil logo and I thought…those sneaky devils. However I have just looked again and there is now an update that they are aware of an issue with the covers…so not so sneaky after all!

Received my physical copy of the special edition today. I'm wondering if it's less of an issue with the product received and more that the actual front cover hasn't been printed / inserted at all. As they're foil embossed I'd expect them to be printed on card rather than paper and given the release includes a poster, it would be a bizarre decision to add the cover to the back of that, as it means if you want to display the poster you're without a cover!
Will be interesting to see what we do receive. Personally I think it should be the special edition cover with gold foil logo on a separate card with the standard edition on the reverse. The booklet is then standalone with the ability to display the poster if needed. That covers all bases.
Given how many received theirs with chips and cracks on the cases, and missing the edition numbering on the back, I'm expecting a complete reprint sent out. Not sure where the numbering is supposed to go, unless it's a sticker to put in the blank diamond on the top-right of the back side.

Regards mark687 Yes, it’s an odd one isn’t it? The numbering doesn’t really bother me either way - it wasn’t a reason for buying the bundle put it that way - but you’d imagine that getting them consistently numbered would be a huge benefit if you were into it.

That looks much better and addresses any issues if someone wanted to display the poster on the reverse of the booklet. I wonder if that was the original intention, as you’d have thought they’d have made a bigger deal about it being a slipcase, as that instantly makes it more desirable? The listing still makes it seem like you’re getting a foil embossed front cover.
Given the damage many had on their copies of Past Lives, they may have just been better sending the full thing out again with The Artist at the End of Time. A flat packed Past Lives slipcase just sounds like asking for trouble.

First and foremost that slipcase makes the release look special , but I don’t believe that was their original intention.
Serendipitous is the word that springs to mind.
