A recent weekly serial, less than 10 episodes so far. Described as 'Tumanbay, heart of a vast empire, is threatened by a rebellion and a mysterious force devouring the empire from within. Epic saga inspired by the Mamluk slave dynasty of Egypt.' Tumanbay downloads - and here's the cast. Episodes are meant to be available for 30 days, but some of the earlier ones are still available so you might want to get them now.

had high hopes for this....but it was a big let down..... I think I have given up on it now after 6 episodes with some of the dullest intrigue, a cast who sound very alike so you have trouble keeping up with who is who & a story stretched way beyond its worth.
BBC you can (and have) do much better.
but points for making this series a podcast.
now please BBC bring back Pilgrim

I disagree. I was gripped throughout and enjoyed it very much. A bit of a departure from the normal type of Radio 4 drama and all the better for it. I very much hope there's a second series as I'd love to see where it goes from the cliffhanger ending.
All episode still available on the iPlayer and to download per the link in the original post by the way.

I downloaded these and keep forgetting to transfer them to my MP3 player. I'll go and do that now. Might be a week or two before I get to them but I'll try to remember to post my opinion of them after I do.

I recently finished this series though... okay, some of the voices were a bit too similar to sort out. The sex - both hetero and gay, a bit "meh" and I could have done without. The overall story, it was decent. Not sure if all threads were tied up at the end though. But it was interesting enough that once I started I had to follow it to the end.
