“The Famished Lands” might be due a relisten… 😉 Oh of course, with the robot Enablers. I don’t remember the emotional weather playing into things, though, which is really what I took to the most in Broken Hearts. So perhaps a relisten is indeed in order! IIRC, the weather tech is only in this one, as the “third time” the Time War came to Iptheus (and the Doctor just didn’t turn up).

The last episode left a lot of emotional fall-out. Valerie and the Doctor needed to work and talk through a lot. 11 may look and act like a funny Clown, but he can be extremely cruel and cold. This story packs some emotional punch, as it should do. I think it is well done, interesting story. It even has a call- back to previous Time War stories. Very well performed. Great addition to the range.

A really nicely done character study. Frankly I can’t imagine this arc without it; having this reconciliation feels vital and it’s so deftly performed by Dudman and Ingar.
I do also love the development of Iptheus. The Famished Lands was one of the more upbeat Time War stories tonally, but this is a reminder that even the Doctor’s wins in the Time War didn’t last.
All in all, it’s another fine piece to what is developing into one of Big Finish’s best eras. Bring on Everywhere and Anywhere next month.

Finally got around to listening to this... This is why I love Big Finish. Fantastic story, fantastic performances. Just perfect all round - it's also strange that this wasn't planned to begin with, it seems like it's integral to the arc and both the Eleven/Valarie dynamic.
