I know this is an unpopular opinion around here, but I really love that Goblin Song bit. LOVE IT! That's OK, I know someone who thinks knows for a fact Jon Pertwee is the best Doctor ever. (And that's not a popular opinion around here either. )
Happily this isn't the sort of forum where one is pelted with jellybabies for saying so. (Thinks: If I had a couple of jellybabies and put them in my ears, the song might be improved... )

I listen to The Chris Moyles Show on Radio X in the morning and Dom has had a couple of singles that they’ve successfully pushed to number 1 on iTunes for two or three days running and neither have made it to The Official Top 40. Only on the Big Top 40, that Global run and air on Capital, which doesn’t really count towards accolades and the like. Not to rubbish The Goblin Song, of course, but the money it’s making for Children in Need via iTunes purchases is the main thing, I think. The Goblin Song reached number 4 on Global’s Big Top 40. Again, not official but terrific for a TV tie-in and will have undoubtedly raised a lot of money for Children in Need. The Official Charts do a Sales chart, in which it’s hit number 12.

Couldn't be worse than this goblin crap.

Benjamin Cook from DWM, chum of RTD (he was the co-writer of The Writer's Tale) and editor of The Daleks in Colour has disgraced himself talking about this a lot less civilly than we on here. He's come off as a total arse and caused a bit of a fuore. The singer on The Goblin Song, Christina Rotondo, posted her happiness that it did so well on the charts. Now, it's OK for us to talk about "well, it's not the main charts but hey - charity". Bejamin tweeted Christina back directly to say "Not on the real charts" then RT'ed Christina to call her out on...gaslighting. Literally said that's what she was doing. Not an implication, he used the word..twice (at least) Again, for a charity song about Goblins. So people came to defend Christina - bloody right - and Benjamin has deleted things, forgetting that people do take screenshots! Then ClaudiaBoleyn, formerly of the TimeTeam for DWM added she's seen this from Cook before and HE'S gaslit people and is a bully who uses proximity to the higher (and let's be frank, HIGHEST) up people to bully others and he was why she lef DWM, falling into a relapse of depression and self-harm. She wasn't piling on too but had said this before, just that now Cook went after Christina for no reason, it was picked up by more. What a nasty piece of work...I can't obviously substantiate Claudia's experience but his words to Christina and calling her a gaslighter are all over Twitter/X. And she's been quite understandably upset by it since Cook is not just Joe Bloggs but she is at least it seems feeling massively supported by the community.

Have been following the fallout throughout the day yesterday. Cook hasn’t painted himself with any glory and the doubling down has just dug a bigger and bigger hole for him. There’s been whispers of his conduct for years, but I think this has been the most explicit with it all being public facing; I’m not expecting him to be sticking around DWM etc for much longer. Of course, the issue for the magazine will be that he’ll have a substantial amount of content written for next years series already; not something they can easily scrap so his name will linger on the publication for a while yet.

Yeah, I wasn't going to talk about Cook (as a rule of thumb, I've massively cut back on discussing Twitter drama here, given how prevalent it was during Jodie's time and I just do not have the energy), but he's been a total berk about things. An utterly pointless need to be right for something so minor - just let the lady enjoy her moment.

What are these whispers? Oh I have seen some of them now. Seems like another pal of RTD who gets a Get Out Of Jail Free card. I wonder what Ncuti would think of their Agatha Christie emails?

Seeing him become Who Twitter’s main character of the day did bring back a memory of a certain text exchange between him and RTD regarding Barrowman in The Writer’s Tale which has aged rather poorly. He certainly does come across as a loose cannon on social media. And for the sake of what? Pedantry?

While I still think the song is pretty naff, I have only picked up on the fact tonight that it has been raising money for Children in Need. So, for that and that alone I hope it has done really well.
The band names did make me chuckle though..😁

I figure the naffness has to be 100% on purpose. Not only because of the band member names there, but because Gold can compose a genuinely enthralling song. 'My Angel Put the Devil In Me' from Series 3 immediately springs to mind.

One of the reviews, RT I think, said this is is a straight homage to Labyrinth and another film but to say which would be a spoiler.

There’s a horror movie called Alien? That’s really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you.
