Sometimes, even crap can at least sound good (and for me, the 80s and 90s seemed to be a special goldmine for these). John Debney gives a truly epic swashbuckling score for... Cutthroat Island. Patch Adams - painfully sappy, but Marc Shaiman delivers some real moving pieces. Ditto a whole host of others from the dependable maestros like Horner, Goldsmith, Silvestri, Broughton and Zimmer.
What's some of yours?

Oh, easy. John Barry's for Raise The Titanic. So good compared to the film, look how large the billing for it is:

Not a soundtrack, but a title song.
'Diamonds are Forever'. Completely forgettable Bond film (even though the best Bond returned for it) but another great title song in a series which had a long line of them.

Disney's "The Black Hole". A generic, forgettable "Captain Nemo in space" rushed out to capitalise on Star Wars fever. The score, by that man John Barry again, is divine and is one of my favourite listens on Spotify. All his work is superb, he unfairly sits in the shadow of John Williams.

There’s a horror movie called Alien? That’s really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you.

Howard Shore’s The Lord Of The Rings. Conveys so much atmosphere and makes every track feel different but also a part of a whole world.
John Williams’s E.T soundtrack is simply wonderful and instantly takes me back to sitting in a cinema, awestruck. Likewise, his music for the first Superman movie is possibly his best work.
Patrick Doyle’s Henry V (Kenneth Branagh, 1989) is also brilliant.

Jerry Goldsmith's scores for Star Trek : The Motion Picture, Star Trek V : The Final Frontier, Star Trek : Insurrection and Star Trek : Nemesis.
Great music, shame about the films...

For my money James Horner's Wrath of Khan is better. Of course, that's a great movie, so it doesn't count. Such a good soundtrack it graced two movies, but Aliens was also a great movie, so that doesn't count either. I hadn't realised this when the movies first came out. So imagine my shock when I rewatched Aliens last year and the music was pure Star Trek

He reportedly had less than two weeks to score the Aliens soundtrack, so heavily reused his earlier work

I saw someone actually get up and walk out of 'Henry V' muttering something uncomplimentary, so that opinion has been aired!

Tricky
Lazy answer the later Star Wars and Indiana Jones Film
Personally
The early 2000s Marvels (Rami's Spidermen Afflecks Daredevil and so on)and The Transformers Films. Good mix of Rock
Actually the Rocky Films (I mean 4s just one long 80s music showcase)

The problem with James Horner is that he would often reuse his scores in multiple films. Bit lazy.
